Pic's of my Wreck and a Rant!

Well, I wrecked my Iroc a few months ago and told yall I would get some pic's....didn't think it would take this long but here are the pic's of it on site just like I wrecked it (throttle hung). Anyway I have saved and bought the fender's and signal light's, now all I need is the front bumper cover, re-bar, header panel, grill, lower front spoiler, and the uni-body pulled. Oh yeah and paint! lol My family has tried to talk me into selling it...oh yeah jensen part it out. Well I fix what I screw up like some ppl..It might take me a year or two..lol but i'm going to fix it.

Anyway someone said they could tell how much damage there was to the uni-body by the pic's so if the can tell me that would be great.

All this happened and i wasn't even wearing a seat belt, no shoes on, just a quarter mile from my home. ain't that some crap right there!

as yall can see I got my work cut out for me any help would be great guys!:hail:

Thank Yall

Jensen

*Edit* Thanks to Kev (deadbird) for resizing my pic's. Thanks bro

Just from looking at the door and hatch gaps, I say theres no damage to the unibody. But the rearend is obvisouly shot.
Last winter my throttle hung while I was passing a car and I was able to instantly shut if off once I knew what was happening. Its very scarry when that happens

Is the car in a rollable state? it looks like something is horribly messed up in the rear end. Or your springs and shocks have broken off. Swaybar broken something along those lines. Check under there to see if anything is visibly broken.

Car: Yes...
Engine: Last time I checked...
Transmission: See "Engine"...
I think the rear end is probably fine. The car is sitting in a ditch in the pics so the suspension is fully compressed on the driver's side and fully unloaded on the passenger side.

Still, it couldn't hurt to take inspection.

Your unibody should be just fine. From what I can see, youve only done cosmetic damage. The worst that might have to be replaced is the radiator support if it was pulled down.

Left out in 1st gear, throttle stuck. I have always been told that when it stucks to kick it, so I did just that, kicked 2nd and it fishtailed and to keep from hitting someone else on the road I hit that ditch.

No seat belt, No shoes, a quarter of a mile from my house, no insurance, no tag, just got the car few weeks before.

Yes for the most part it just looks cosmetic, but I would seriously look into replacing all the front ends parts, such as steering linkage and etc, or at least have it looked over really well by someone who knows what they are looking for.

dude your best bet is to just get a camaro that was wrecked in the rear and use it as a parts car. those little things add up really quick! i wrecked mine in the front end and replaced hood fenders bumper and everything under it, supports, radiator mount ect. i had a parts car and still spent over 2000 getting it fixed and that was not including the parts car cuz it was free. good luck though, i know how ya feel.

What and risk blowing up the engine? Actually a kill switch wired into the ignition power wire would be great. It would kill the motor and your steering wheel wouldn't lock up.

Or you can also hit the brake, might not work as well at WOT but it would still stop and reach up and turn the key off at the same time.

Oh and there is always neutral.

You do know you can turn the car off w/o putting the key in the 'lock' (locks steering wheel and auto shifter) position. The brake booster also has a certain amount of reserve vacuum to safely stop the car in an emergency.
Standard shift would not have improved the situation, the problem is most likely a cause of inexperienced driving. That's not what the question is about though...

if it's an auto in overdrive can't you just push it up without using the button to neutral??

the car thing sucks though. I'd check the basics like everyone else said. The tranny and oil pan, sway bars, shocks, springs, etc. It sucks, but it could have been much worse.

ya just smack it forward. hell, worst case scenario you'll shear off the safety stop and throw it in reverse. or, since it will stop ur car really fast, is that the best case scenario ?

What is all this talk about switching gears and reverse and what not. This happened to me as well, all you need to do is shut the key off, stop, get out and check out why it hung up!!! neutral is the worst thing to do (results in a blown engine)!!!!

Hmm blown engine or tranny, or totalled car, or worse dead driver or someone else.. Rather have the blown engine or toated trans then no car, or being dead. Mind you like already said it happens so fast sometimes, there is not much you can do. Shutting down the car doesn't usually stop a car from moving right away. More so when at high speeds.

well i understand it happened so quick. All i was trying to say was the thing to do in that situation is obviously step on the brake and after you realize its stuck, shut off the key. Unless your about 90 years old and afraid to break your foot or some ****. It will be a little harder to stop but if you were worried about not bein able to stop in time you could punch the brake till you were almost stopped then shut off the key, which is what i did.
