restoring a 89 RS Camaro
restoring a 89 RS Camaro
Hi all. I have a 89 RS that has rust on the roof and a bit on the spoiler area. Not too bad yet, but need to know what's the best stuff to use to get rid of the rust. I heard Zerust is good but need opinions etc. Also after treating the rust, should I sand it down with sandpaper or what? And how soon should I paint it after that? Appreciate any and all advice. Thanks.

the best way to eliminate surface rust is to standblast it... i am almost finished restoring my 86 camaro and i sandblasted almost the whole car...it sukks to do but it gets the job done!
Media blasting is the best rust eliminator as a whole, but for a small spot like that, you're probably going to want to go with Por-15, unless you're gonna do the whole car. Do a search for Por-15.

Sandblasting is a very effective way to to get rid of it but if you don't have a sandblaster. I would look into por15 for small spots it really is good stuff works really well.
