headlight door acting funny, what should I do?

I just picked up my '89 GTA and one of the first things I noticed was that the headlightdoors go up perfectly, but they don't always go down. Sometimes they do, sometimes they quit somewhere between up and down.
Now my GTA is a low mileage car (12.900 kilometers/around 8.500 miles) that has stood for the last 4 to 5 years without being used. Basically it has just sat there. Now I can not believe that there are any parts that are really worn. Maybe something needs to be cleaned or so? I must say that I did find out that usually when the door stick I don't hear the loud "click" that I normally hear when I push the headlight switch. Could it be that the switch itself is malfuntioning or has a poor electrical connection or so?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I manufacture and sell a headlight repair kit to repair your 1987-92 Firebird headlights. Here is the instructions that I include with the kit. Look them over and you'll understand the problem and how the kit will solve it.

Have you tried holding the "Off" part of the switch? Sometimes if I don't push it hard enough, the lights stay up. If they go up fine, I think your motors/bushings are fine and you don't need lon's kit. He makes some good stuff from what I hear, but I'm cheap and I'd try everything else before I buy stuff.

My problem was the headlight switch.
If one didn't go all the way down, I'd turn them on again and turn them off right away.

Like I thought before I still do think it has something to do with the headlight switch. Should I replace it or could it be cleaned or something?
