Silicone spray

I've never actually seen the 3M stuff, but alot of people use a regular silicon lubricant. They make specific stuff meant for weatherstripipng, but it's all silicon based.

You can also use silicon paste (brake lubricant will do the trick). Just spread it on then wipe of the excess with a paper towel.

It gets really cold where I live and both methods have worked to keep all my weatherstipping in great shape.

Silicone lubricant is the reason they deteriorated in the first place. The silicone removes the factory coating on the rubber, which allows them to dry up. I've never used the 3M stuff, but if your gaskets are already a mess, it's not likely to cure it. You can't really undo damage. The best you can hope for is to catch it before it gets bad.

none of those links are what i was talking about it.

Jim there was a topic about a year ago about it and its near impossible to search for. i think TomP and a few other members were trying it and the only quote i can remember is

"dont spray it directly on the seal cause the aerosol will worseen the seal, spray it in a cup and brush it on, it sucks it up alot the first time you use it!"

i wish i could find this stuff...
