ASCD hoods, can they be functional??
Has anyone done it or know of anyone that has. I want to get the ASCD '97 replica hood for my GTA but I would like it to be functional like the ones at Ram Air Hoods or Sun Coast Creations. Can the ASCD be made functional?? Any help would be great.

I need this info as well.
However, I'm having my body shop guy try and think of a solution for it. If he comes up with anything worth telling about - I'll let you guys know. May even make a couple if they're decent enough.

penguin - I'm pretty sure he means about an airbox.
tamatt - Car was totalled May 2003. I'm getting it fixed. That's just a progress shot. I can't believe it's come this far!

Ok, let's see if we can clear things up a bit. If I purshase the ram air box and filter from say Ram Air Hoods. And then I purchase the ASCD '97 replica hood. I can make it functional by installing the airbox and then cutting the appropriate holes in the hood. Is this what you are saying?

Yeah i'd immagine you could make it functional even without buying something like that...all it would take is a little time and thinking.....

I have the ASCD Ram Air 1 hood on my 87 TA, and my girlfriend Redraif has the Suncoast one on her 87 Firebird. The answer is no, it won't work. The scoop is in a completely different place. You could cut a hole in the underside of the ASCD hood, possibly make something that would work, but even if you had the time/skills/tools etc to do a first class job, you could still buy the Suncoast hood for less. If you want a clean looking airbox setup, its the only way to go. If ASCD could have made an airbox work well with their hood, they would have done so by now (I worked for Year One/Next Generation when their hood came out, and tried to convince them to do an airbox but they didn't think it would work either.
