Getting the door panels off
Is there an easy way to get the door panels off a 91 Firebird? I'm having a problem getting the trim off around the door handle. There's a round screw cover behind the handle, and a rectangular one right next to it with the bird logo on it. I can't seem to get these pieces off, even with a dental pick. All I've succeeded in doing was scratching the hell out of the trim.
Any ideas?

See the trim piece around the door handle and lock? That's what I'm talking about. There's 2 caps that go over the 2 screws that hold it on. One directly behind the inner handle, and another one to the left of it.

You will need to zoom in so I can show you exactly where you screwed up.
I know that wasn't nice. Don't ban me! I have the same panels and got them off with minimal damage!

usually what it is, is just a cap, with my 84 bird there one just one cap which poped right off, ( 2 lil clips on the back push one in and it pops right out) usually a flathead does the trick. Lucky you, you don't have a crank window, because i used to have one, until i switched it from crank to power. and for a few weekends in a row i had taken off and put back on the door insides. ANd when you remove the cap over the door handle (interrior) don't be afraid to use a lil bit Not much force to take it off, because it just barely fits as is. and when removing the insides, there are a bunch of clips holding the insides to the door, remove those first, and once done pull gently on the bottom to lift it towards you, the top has a couple clips securing it to the door. youll see when you get there its kinda hard to explain. Also the door lock just pops right off, its just 2 clips. hopefully that explains it for ya if not explain a lil more on your prob. (i nice zoom pic would be nice)

Faded, I'm not complaining (or being sh---y with you so, don't take it as such) about you using my interior picture but, could you please remove the above picture linked directly from my site , I do pay for my bandwith.
To help, I believe these are the 2 cover being referred to, I've always been able to pop mine off with a eyeglass flathead screwdriver.

That's one way to do it. I used a turkey lacer because it leaves less of a mark when pried against the plastic...

Sorry deadbird, I didn't have access to a camera so I just looked around the forum quickly for a picture of what I was talking about, and yours happened to be the first one I found (from the 'what color is your interior' thread).
