Know exactly what you mean I don't like the spoiler at all, but it does seem to fit pretty well. I am guessing it is for some other application, but was hoping that maybe it was '82-'92 camaro specific. Not to buy that spoiler obviously, but maybe check out posible other designs by the company. But like I said, my guess would be 99% sure that that was not meant for our f-bodies

Formula wing...

I was at the Marine Base in San Diego today doing some body work on the T/A when I noticed a Formula in a stall a few rows over.

The wing didn't look right. It was too tall and the edges of the wing came forward on the body about 14". It had the similar base of a regular wing but the rear of it extended about 5 to 6 inches.

The body of the Formula had three huge letters on it, "MSE" and again on the side panel. Not sure what it means, but I will try and take some Dpictures of it later this week.

Jim.

there's actually a campany that makes those specifically for thirdgens and not only that but they are made to work with the stock three peice spoiler there is another thread running around lately discussing it and it is one of two made (that i know of) specifically made to work with the three peice

I've a seen a Camaro driving around locally with a spoiler similar to that one. Personally I think ones designed in such a way as to detract from the rest of the car only damage the overall look you're going for in the first place. It's like the spoiler is yelling "Look at me! Look at me!"

Just doesn't work.

MSE were the mecham racing cars i beleive, but thats not a mecham wing. The mecham wing is more like the 4th gen 3rd aero wing.

This is true, however he says "Up for auction is a excellent condition 1988 Camaro IROC-Z. This car has a 350/5.7l V8 with a 5 speed transmission."

And it's not an Iroc http://www.carfax.com/cfm/check_orde...&PopUpStatus=0

feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but Irocs never came with the 305 TBI shich was original to this car that would make this a base model with IROC stickers

Actually, I am pretty sure they did believe it or not. I could be wrong, but I think the L03 was the base iroc engine that year.
Pretty lame, I know, a z-28 badge, and it came from the factory with a death-defying 170hp

irocs did come with the L03 as the base motor in 88 and 89, but either way around, the motor looks like its never been touched, but i can be wrong lol.

That wing is for 4th gen camaros. My friend has it on his 97 Z28, but I think it is horribly ugly and makes it look like the batmobile.

In 87 and several other year IROC-Z28 Camaros, the base model engine WAS an LO3, 305 TPI & 350 TPI were optional engines, I forgot what the prices for the upgrades were.

Not to be nit-picky, but the L03 was not available until '88 in which it was the base engine for '88-'90 IROCs. I'm pretty sure the LG4 was the base in '87

While everyone is busy trying to figure out what engine went with which year, there's a page on TGO that will clear everything up for you, so this thread can stay on topic.

https://www.thirdgen.org/newdesign/tech/techdb.shtml

And the wing I believe was originally an aftermarket piece for 93-97 Camaros. Apparently it's been ported over to the thirdgen aftermarket, too. Looks alright.

i belive this is the spoiler that we are looking at right now it was made to work with the three peice (so you could be lazy and not take it off i guess)

http://www.spoilers.com/wings/chevcamaro82.htm

there are two that actually work with the three peice there one i kinda like the other is pretty trashy

I always get the 2 confused

I know it's the quadra jet motor for 85-87 F-Bodys.

I saw the subject wing on a 4thgen at Qualcomm tonight when everyone was evacuating from the fires up north.

It has the similar center piece with an additional side quarter piece that runs down the sides of the tail light area.

Looked crappy IMO.

Jim.
