Swap Firebird windshield with TA windshield?

Maybe I just can't figure out the right words to punch into the search engine, but...

Can someone please tell me if I can put a Trans Am (1986) windshield into a Firebird (1986).

I don't see why not, but I don't wanna pull the TA windshield and find out afterwards it won't work. I don't have the cars side by side to even look right now.

Thanks so much.

Thanks

Now I just hope my cracked windshield makes it until Thanksgiving. And the crack is slowly spreading!

While it is true that any third gen windshield will physically interchange amongst different year/model 3rd gen cars, certain years/models had different VIN locations on the body. There is a small "window" in the blacked out portion of the windshield that you're able to read the VIN through. If the correct windshield isn't used, the VIN may be partially (or completely) covered.

FWIW.

Not true for 3rd gen cars. Any w/s from any 3rd gen Camaro/Firebird will interchange with no interference from VIN plates, ect. To be more specific if you were to purchace a w/s for your car from GM there will be only one part# still available because the older numbers have been obsoleted and the newest part# is simply the change-up number. Trust me on this one, I manage a glass shop that has 800K in sales each year.
