I want to intall 4th gen seats in my 89 Formula. Is it a simple bolt-on or will I need some sort of spacers or adapters? I don't want power seats(I think that would complicate things even more) If anybody has done this to their third gen, please let me know what problems I might encounter in this project. ANY info on this would be great! I appreciate any and all feedback on this matter, THANK YOU!

Yes they are completely bolt in. I have some from a 96 Z28 in mine, and the hardest part was switching the seat belt holder on the back seat. But everything lines up perfectly. Eric

Do yourself a good deed and try for the power seats(especially with the elec. lumbars). They are fantastic. More seat adjustments and they wrap around you a little better. I cant really tell you about the extra distance. My seats are for my car here in Australia and the right seat is really about the same. What you can probably do is what I did. I made a little extension to add to the distance the seat travels. It is a metal piece that relocates the studs where the seat mounts. Maybe some help.
I'd like to do that, I how hard is it to get power to that area and have power seats. Also I'm very much interested in your idea of the track extention, I don't get enough leg extention, and get sore knees. Does anybody else know of this?
The power you need if you dont have the harness is a hot wire(with a fuse) and ground the seats to the floor. The extension is a two and a half inch piece of metal about one and a half inches wide. Use the existing studs that mount the seats. Drill a hole at the top of the longest part of the metal in the center and mount that to the floor. The next hole is at the rear of the metal piece and mount that to the seats with high tensile bolts. Make 4 of each of these and off you go. Really all it does is extend the mounting bracket a little to the rear.

Sorry man, it bolts to the same holes and doesn't go any further back. At least I didn't notice. Converting to power is easy and I suggest it!

Someone was telling me that the manual 4th gen tracks go back farther. I took the power off of mine and just bolted both old 3rd gen tracks. You also want to take into account that the power seats are gonna sit up higher than manual. So if you want head and leg room...manual 4th gen tracks..
Good idea, I'm going with 4th gen manual tracks attached to 4th gen seats. Now all I have to do is find a nice set for the right price! Thanks for the help fellow 3rd gen.ers!

I have 2000 SS leather seats in my 89' vert. They bolt right in for the most part, and go back about the same distance. Mine came with the 6-way power tract, but I did not have power seats before, so I used the seat tracts off the old seats. 

Do yourself a great favor and put those power tracks back on and enjoy the movement. All you need is a power and ground and away you go. Up and back as much as you like.
