How much for dash?

My dash in my 89 Camaro RS is cracked and I have found a 87 firebird dash that has no cracks at all. First off would this fit? and second off how much is a good price? The guy at the salvage yard said he wanted $100 normally but since we just bought an engine from him he may drop it to $75. Is this a good price for it?

Check out ebay motors. I've seen them for around $70.00. I think a firebird one would fit, but I don't know for sure.

they arent because camaros have the center vents so the dash is molded differantly.

not interchangable, at least I wouldn't think they were, the vent are different.

Well

I was just talking about the top part of the dash. I didn't think the vents would interfere. Just the top part that screws on because that's where mine is cracked. Like would the speakers match up and lil vents side vents by the door and all? and like would it just bolt right on?

Yes

The upper part of the dash will fit. The vents for the defrost might not line up exact, but the speakers line up perfectly, and so do the doors.. The bolt locations are the exact same.

Jeez

Wow some people think EBAY will fix anything and have everything. Hum not everyone is trustable and hell then ya gotta wait for shipping and pay all that crap. And your not sure of the condition exactly. May pay a little more but hey for the most part salvage yards are easier and atlesat you know what you're getting.

I have never sold anything off of ebay that didnt fit what it says. Nor have I bought anything off of ebay that was not for my taste. If it says its perfect & you get it & its not then you email the seller & tell them that. If they dont fix it then you email ebay. its delt with.

Around here you cant get a used dash pad that is in even fair shape with out paying $200 for it.

hum look up

If you read the whole post you'd have noticed that I said I could get it for $75 or $100. I wouldn't pay $200 for the dash pad either. But if I can get it for that cheap and not have to pay shipping and handling on something I have never seen in person then I will pay the lil $75.

I suggested ebay for some comparable pricing. You may have better luck getting your salvage yard to give it to you for $75.00 if you had some printouts of a dash for that price or less to show them.

good idea

That's a good idea that may get used. If I do anything with that dash it's gotta be soon because the car just made it to the salvage yard the other day and before someone else gets it or before it gets cracked from weather. And krazzycowgirl sry bout being a lil A$$ recently. Bad times tryin to get car going again and ya sry. thx for the input.

I understand that I am trying to find stuff for my 82 pacecar. I cant use dash pads from the 84 & newer because they are not right. all the 82-83 ones are cracked.

Now I am also trying to find someone who can do lettering for my 82 seats.

It may fit, but anyone who knows how it should look will know its off.

But to each his own, i happen to agree with a few others about ebay, they are cheaper there.

And at least you could get the CORRECT one for your car.

Inbreeding is not good.

for referance those pics i posted were a 87 camar0 and a 91 firebird. the dashs for the camaro are basicly the same 82-92 except 82-84 had a little bit sharper design. firebirds were the same way

I don't think it will fit, for two reasons.
#1: the Camaro dash pad has a relief for the center vents, the Firebird one doesn't. It will not sit flat over the vents and bow up in the middle.
#2: the Camaro dash pad sits higher in the car than the Firebird dash pad. I am sure of this, and here's why. I had a dual gauge pod on the A-pillar of my 86 Firebird. The bottom of the pod sat 1" off the dashpad, so fitment was tight. I pulled the whole A-piller out of the Firebird when I junked it, and tried to put it in my 92 Camaro. Just swap the whole pillar. It wouldn't fit because the Camaro dashpad sat higher in the car. The bottom of the pod bottomed out on the pad, and it still needed another inch before it would bolt into place.

86 Firebird=1' of clearence
92 Camaro=no clearence (at least 2" higher than Firebird)

These are the facts, now bring on the flaming.
