1.) 93-96 consoles had only one cupholder. 97+ had four.
2.) A 4th gen console has no mounting holes for power mirrors or windows. I mounted my window buttons in the ashtray, and the mirror button in the cubby hole in front of the shifter. Looks very nice and clean.
3.) Putting a 4th gen console in a 3rd gen Firebird is as simple as taking out the old one and putting the new one in the exact same way. But with a Camaro you have to either hack up your old console or install a radio pod from a Firebird. The reason is a camaro console and the radio pod are one piece, so it won't be a direct bolt in replacement.

Just wanted to clarify a bit here - you will NEVER find a clean looking install from somebody that just drops it in. Even most pictures online don't show the true fit of these consoles. Personally, I had to drill a couple holes, make clearance room for the shifter cable, and elongate the wires for my mirror control. And if you look at the console in person - it still doesn't sit completely flush. If you're gungho on doing the swap - go ahead. But make sure you do alot more than just DROP it in.

For these reasons, I'll be selling my 4thgenconsole in the summer and swapping back the 3rdgen console, albeit blacked out.

Why did you keep the ashtray flap... why not remove it, and mabey put in a nice little custom sqaure piece to finish it off nicely?

actually - the ashtray flap closes and conceals the window switches. Makes a real clean look.

theres sooo much stuff i wanna do to my ride.... i think im gonna get the engine running nice with a few mods(exhaust, open air element...maybe headers....and new wires)... then comes the exterior.... body work/paint... then interior.... then rims .... this will take my about a year.... i cant wait... but what do u think about the console... does it look good after installation? and how does it match up to the top part of the console on the dash...???

Is there any difference from auto to stick?

3rg gen stick can use a 4th gen auto or you need to find a stick console?
