i dont like shaved handles on camaros/firebirds i tend to think its more a mini truck thing and that it should stay with mini trucks.

I think shaved door handles looks awesome. I'm so tempted to shave the handles on my '82. The only thing thats holding me back is the that feeling when your battery goes dead. If I were not afraid of that, I'd shave them in a heart-beat!

Just carry your trunk key with you... I mean how often does your battery die, once a year?

So what you look like a jackass at the store every now and then climbing into your trunk, but having sweet shaved handles more then makes up for it.

Camaro's look pretty nice with shaved handles, but does anyone have pictures of bird's?

ultra easy solution.

have batt cable extenders mounted somewhere where you could reach them... like under the nose, or under rear bumper, wherever....

if you use decient cables, they're also good for keeping the batt topped off on the charger....

in the case of your remote dying, i reccomend getting a secure weatherproof keylock switch (the round vending machine keys are the most secure type).... and wire that to unlatch a door...

also a magnetic backup door release is nice...

theres 80 billion options out there... with the excepton of cost, theres not one set of problems you can give from the shaved handles that cant be solved........

well. except the NHRA rule requireing handles..... but in thata case, a hole in the glass/lexan to reach a internal handle is legal too........

hey FLYNLOW92rs, I'm going to get the same hood for my 91 RS. What's with the gap between the front edge of the hood and your bumper cover??

I agree they do look great, and its a mod that I change my mind on from day-to-day. What exactly are the regulations of running a car with shaved door handles at local tracks? Anyone know about their particular area?

Grafx: Common problem for all ASCD hoods, for the life of me i can't get mine aligned......working on it though...

Kandied91Z: It's comming together, stay tuned in the next month, major mod should bring it all together.........FYI that wing might be traded for a 4th Gen Bird wing, just waiting on the photoshop to make my final decision....

82Firebird: I've never had my battery die on me.....But the fact that you NEVER have to worry about locking your door when leaving, and the fact that your door can be waiting for you open when it's raining outside, far outweighs the inconvience of crawling through the hatch every now and then, which i haven't had to do.....

I shaved my handles and never looked back, worth every penny IMO, and looks much much cleaner....

you can't run a truly sanctioned race with the shaved handles.

FLYNLOW92rs, i don't know which one i dislike more.....it doesn't really matter anyhow but if your considering a ta wing on a camaro i'd just leave the one you have now. at least it's more original.

With no door handles, what do you do when your door freezes shut. We just had 30 - 40 degree temperatures and my door was almost impossible to open up. I've been considering shaving my doors, but this is the only drawback.

Shaved door handles have been around for 50 years, maybe longer. The minitruck guys didn't invent it. My dad had them on his 55 Chevy in 1957!

Redraif's have been done for almost two years, and thats never been an issue. It may be in colder climates, but it dips into the teens here. The battery dying hasn't been an issue, but the battery in her remote did die once and it had to be reset. Her car doesn't have jumper terminals mounted externally for charging, but mine will, though I doubt I'll ever need that to get in the car.

Our doors are some damn huge, I think it looks strange without something breaking up all the space. No doors handles looks odd to me.

door handles

I thought about it a loong time, and i will shave the door locks but not the handles.... I think it looks better on a vert. I think after shaving the handles as well, the only thing you focus on would be the gas tank cap......

Youre car is awesome! The wings a little big... but that is amazing. I was also trying to remember... Youre pretty young and you did most of this yourself didnt you? Does anybody know of any legal issues besides at the track? My dad just got a very expensive ticket for having his licence plate in an "illegal position". Its the stock place on his 99 jeep... WTF? Our cops seem to be cracking down so id hate to be pulled over for having my handles shaved.

My sentiments exactly! EVERYTHING is better shaved

Shaved handles are no problem with the cops around here. Tehy're technically not legal at the track, but the 1/4 mile NHRA track we go to (Silver Dollar in Reynolds) has never said anything about it. I'm thinking about having a sign shop make me some magnetic "simulated" handles just in case.
