Blue LEDs in 91-92 Camaro turning display Green!!
Wonder if anyone else on this board with a 91-92 Camaro has installed LED's in there car?? I tried the install begining with the shifter selector first using 2 blue LEDs in the socket rated at 3000MCD each. The shifter selector lights up a dull green. How have the rest of you gotten your displays to light up blue??

I had a feeling that this would happen before I even ordered the LEDs but someone before mentioned that the yellow would not matter, that the blue would still shine through. I'm wondering if I should use a different color or use a brighter LED to get the display to light up blue.

you need new gauge faces for it to work...
you can use the white gauge overlays and take out the factory face, like oddessy did...
or you can print your own gauge face like some others have...
either way, you have to swap out gauge faces first.

So the guage faces go behind the display and replace the yellow or do they replace the entire display??

define "display"
you have the actual circuit board area... a lil pin sticks up thru that...... over the circut board is the gauge face.. its a printed sheet that has the numbers translucent. over that the needle sits resting on the pin.
what you need to do is print out or buy a new face. remove the old face and slip it between the needle and the gauge.. by removing the old face and putting a new one on that has white/silver/gray numbers, whatever you put behind the face will shine thru.
if you dont want the needles yellow/green whatever you need to pull thoes off, scrape the paint off the bottom of them (they're clear plastic with a painted bottom) and paint the bottom of them whatever color you wish (i like red)
however, i dont like the idea of removing the needles since you could put them on in the wrong place and make the gauge "off".. many people have done it successfully, it just takes caution.

see where I'm confused is where you talk about removing the original face. Is it ease to remove and what is it mounted too and how is it mounted?? I understand that I need to remove the original layout and replace it with an aftermarket white or silver layout.
