Fiberglass repair?
I have just recently purchased a really nice "SS" hood for my car, but it has some minor dings around the edges. I've never repaired fiberglass before and I was wondering if someone could shed a little light on the subject. Thanks!

Speaking of itching, who was the genius who thought of fiberglass pools? The dings are very minimal, they are probably best described as chips.

do you have any picutres of them, if they are just "chips" and not cracks you could always just fill them with some resin and then sand them down smooth and use any filler if it was needed

I tried to attach a picture, but it says it is too big. Oh well, I'm just gonna go down to Ace and get a fiberglass repair kit. I'm sure I can figure it out. Thanks for the help!

Open the image with MS paint, go to strech/strew, and type in the percentage you want (50% will make the image half size), and use the same percentage in both boxes, then save as /jpg, or /gif. That will make it smaller.

hmmm
little different than i had pictured, but can you take the hood off the car ? that would probably be the easiest
i would get some glass and fill it in and then sand it down to shape, are those cracks going up towards the center of the hood ? on the second picture?
you could even try and just fill it in and bck to shape with body filler, start with the bondo tha thas fiberglass strands in it, and then just use regular bondo for finish.
if all else fails bring it to a body shop and ask them their opinion on it.

That is going to be hard to fix with out it being noticible. I would cut off the bad spotoff the hood above any cracks. Then make a mold out of card bard and make a fill that matches the cut off, but thinner by 1/8 inch. Then sand down 1/8 inch of fiber glass on the hood for a few inches past the edge. "Glue" the peice in with resin, then lay a layer of glass on the top with a good helping of resin. Let cure and then sand down the bottom and put a layer there also. You are going to have to feather the repair out, then probably block sand the whole hood to get the best result.
For the not so bad area, sand down the spot and just fill it in loose with fiber and resin, and then block sand.
