Air Dam Piece that bolts to radiator.

Hi,
I had my car repainted and the body shop lost the plastic air dam piece that bolts to the underside of the radiator. A better description is if you go to the front of the car midway on the bumper and look underneath you can see it, it's bolted to the frame that holds the radiator. I am finding it pretty hard to get one in usable condition as they get knocked around a lot. My car is an 82 so I am wondering will an air dam piece from any third gen do or did GM change the design of these through the car's ten year production run. Do I need to get one off an 82-84 3gen so as it will fit on my car?

I think any airdam 82-92 will fit. I've seen them on ebay for around $50. The lower airdam is a key part of the cooling system. Without it you might experience higher temps than normal. Just ask the person selling it if it will fit an 82. If I were you I would force the bodyshop to reimburse you. Dont let them loose stuff and get away with it. They should return the car to you with all parts attached.

Yes the bodyshop should have returned all the parts but they didn't, The whole respray thing was a nightmare from start to finish but I did get some discount because of the missing parts but its so difficult trying to get parts for the earlier third gens.

GM still sells them. I bought mine directly from GM for $28 I think it was.

That would be great if they still sell them new. I live in Ireland so there are no GM dealers here. Do you know of any mail order company that does them?

Thanks for replying.

Just so you know, I have an '86 Iroc air deflector on my '83 Firebird- and it bolted right up to existing holes. This leads me to believe they are backwards-compatible.
