I thought about doin the same thing alot of members think it cant be done. I think its a possibility specially if the wires are the same comin off the air bags.

Car: 1992 Camaro RS AKA Big Nasty
Engine: Carbed '79 350 block, 360hp/380ftlbs (flywheel)
Transmission: 6speed from an unidentified 4th gen. ask me, ill tell you.
IMO the wheel that came on my 92 rs looks much better than those 4th gens. Ill try for pics this weekend.

I have a '90, same wheel as '92. I think it is a PITA to use the horn. I have ot push at the very corner very hard when I feel i need to express my anger, or on the infrequent opportunity I use it to signal somone. That 4th gen wheel looks much nicer and easier to use the horn than my current wheel. Plus, on my wheel, the padding is coming off, and parts of the leather are cracking.

Lets think about this for a minute...
When one of the airbag/crash snesors is activated, it will send current to the steeringwheel which will cause the airbag to deploy. Now, since the 90-92 cars came with airbags, they alrady have the proper equipment hooked up. So, in theory it sould work.
owever, I believe I read something over a year ago about different generations of airbags or whatnot. What the generational changes are, I don't know. But as long as the trigering mechanism is the same, I don't see a reason why it shouldn't work.

Rip it all off! No, seriously, the leather pading on my 91's wheel was faded and cracking, so I took a risk of not knowing what it would look like, and ripped all the padding off. Let me tell you, it doesn't look bad at all. Nice and shiny black. My g/f thought I bought a brand new stearing wheel.

By the look of that interior, I am going to say that that car was not originally equipped with an air bag, so I it wouldn't have any provisions for it... in other words, they wouldn't know.
But, assuming you liek the 4th gen steering wheel anyway and will install it even if you can't get the airbag to work, i would just go ahead and get the 4th Gen steering wheel, then check the wiring out for yourself. Only one way to find out, and it is to actually try it.
