door skin

i bent my door back pushing it in the driveway and running into a bush MOTHER@#$%^&!!! the door is all bent up.
can i replace just the door skin since these doors are fit at the factory and whatnot, i thought it might be easier to just replace the doorskin if at all possible

thanks, dan

Get the door skin removal and install tools from Eastwood, it'll make it look like the factory door.

check with your local yards first...i know around here i could pick up a good door for under 200 so it may be worth it to you to check.

watchout though, it'll be hard to find a door with no rust on the bottom hem flange. GM skins are the only one's you'll find, and they're $280, I found one this guy had who sold it to me for $50. I replaced my passenger side skin and it turned out perfict. there was rust climbing all the way up both the vertical hem flangeson the shell. So spend your money and get a new skin. Then you can repair the rust and won't ever have to worry about it corroding again.

yeah, the new skin sounds like the better idea, but $280. damn, i guess il learn to pay attention next time. i wouldnt expect a door to cost anywhere near 200at the yard either though. i wanted to replace both sides since the pax side has like a line dent that i bought it with. not too bad, but i wanted to just replace both skins. maybe not now. i hate being broke

Here in Cali they sell a paper by the name "recycler".I see 3rd gen doors(& other parts) all the time selling for around $50.Even when they have power windows sometimes.Have you tried the swap meets.

Did you ever get them skins replaced???

I can get a 84-85 fiero to scrap. its one of them that is 80% plastic or fiberglas but it has steel doors. The inside and everything looks like my car. I would not be using the whole door skin but it should be suitable for patch repair?
