Rust Sucks

Hey, like some of you other third generation owners, I too have found some cancer. I'm not an expert and Do not know how bad it is, so I decided to take some pictures to post them here. My floorboards are ****ed up so i didn't even bother getting a pic of those rust magnets. But here is the other bad part, the rear fender and well, especially the one side. One of my main questions is if this is worth repairing, floorbaords arn't a problem because I have access to a lift and tools, but I'm not sure about the pics below. Please give me your input and suggestions.

Kind of wonder if that car was wrecked when near new. Unusual to see rust like that in one place only. Hard to fix and make it last in the body seams like that. Suppose a body shop could get a patch panel and cut/replace that area, be best bet if possible.

Damn, since I posted this post earlier today, I ripped out everything in the rear of my car. (seats, carpet, ect)
This is what I found:

Bad picture, but what the hell is this thing(in trunk)???

This is that rusted wheel well from the inside:

Heres another:

Close-up of previous:

And here is the opposite fender(inside pic). Its a little rusted on the outside but didnt get through yet. I can feel that its softer though.

Ouch, what a terrible discovery. Definitely looks serious. How many miles on that car? Did it see a lot of winter weather? Rust scares the crap out of me...
Good luck with the fix!

Its got 130k miles, I bought it like 6months ago with the intentions of swapping in a 350 ect... So, I don't know how many winters it's seen. I just wish out 1/4 panels weren't such a pain in the *** to replace. So, I'm guessing I should goto a junkyard and cut out a wheel well. But I'm not to sure on what to do about the 1/4 panel yet. If I cut a section out, how much? ect.? If anyone has ever done these procedures in the past, please let me know.

Check out this thread..

I had both quarter panels in my car cutout and replaced with new ones. Although I didn't have any rot in my wheel well like you have, I think that is replaceable too. You would have to cut it out and weld in new steel there.

it's worth repairing. don't just let another third gen rust out. Fix it!! I am replacing my passenger side quarter, cause of rust right behind the rear wheel and that back corner was crushed in. I picked up a used 1/4 for $160 at a salvage yard. I've gotta replace a big chunk of the inner wheel well and am also making a couple of patch panels for rustouts on the lip of the wheel well. patch panels would fix yours right up considering your never gonna see them.
