new paint soon, color idea, need opinions

Getting the car painted soon (hopefully) and was thinking about House of Kolors "blue blood red". Supposed to be a super deep, bright red. Redder than red as they describe it. Was thinking about a fine metal flake added to it. Opinions?

Looks like someone watched the "firelimo" episode of monster garage

If you want red I would look at the following:

Kandy Apple Red
Kandy Brandywine
Boyd red (boyd coddington red)

I did see that episode, but saw a car with Blue Blood Red at world of wheels a while ago. I've had this idea for 3 years now.

I do like the Boyds red too, saw it last week on his new show. I just want to know how the metal flake looks on a bright red as opposed to a maroon or kandyapple red.

Anyone have pics of a metal flake in bright red?

I think what you want is "metallic."

Metalflake is what is on bass boats (and 64 Impala lowriders.)

Which is created by the addition of small (or large) metallic particles to the paint which makes the paint "metallic". The bass boats and "gangsta' hoppers" use bigger flakes that resemble chunks of aluminum foil. Pearl paints use the same technique, but instead of metallic flakes, they use mica which creates an irridescent property.

Mine has flake in it and honestly I kinda wish it didnt. It looks sweet in either direct sunlight when it shines like a bass boat or at night because then it looks as smooth as glass but in cloudy or shadowy light it makes the paint look ruff

Have to agree with the pearl. I have a red '97 Z28 that I have a custom paint job on which includes blue pearl added to the clear coat. It gives it a shimmer that's absolutely great.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go with Ice Pearl over the red.
