Rust on Rear Hatch Metal lining

My 91 RS camaro has minor rust damage on the exterior metallic lining of the rear hatch, is there any way to fix this cosmetically other than simply replacing it or sending it to a glass shop to be refurbished?

Mine has the same thing. I was thinking about sanding it down, masking off around it, and painting it. I'm at a loss for what to paint it with though, i'm guessing its not the base/clear thats on the rest of the car, and I don't want to use a rattlecan anywhere near the car (except on the wonderbar, but that can be out secret ). Its not bothering me too much now, but its on my list of little things to do to make the car look a little nicer, right after the window sweeps and a stupid speeding ticket.

sanded painted mine 5 years ago with dupli color high gloss black paint. Used a sealer primer under it from dupli color both rattle can.

Opened up the glass and sanded it down to the metel removing all the little rust spots. Primed and painted, it just has started to fade but no rust has came back. And it should be an easy light sand and paint now to make it glossy again. Also did the t-top trim the same way.

i did the same think duplicolr rattle cans works real good. just tape and paper off everything as not to get overspray all over the place. sand seal prime and spray, could even change from black if you wanted that my even look kinda cool.

What about removing it completely?

Can you remove that piece of metal without ruining the structuraly integrity of the window?
