Interior handle snapped off!!!

My door was frozen shut from the freezing rain so after i got inside the passenger side door i climbed over to the drivers seat and tried to open the drivers door and snapped off the interior door handle. Is a new handle easy to find and is the handle hard to replace?I cant find anything that tells me how to replace an interior door handle. Thanks a lot...Al in NJ

They're easy to replace, only held in place with two pop rivets.

My first thought, was wow, youve never been inside your doors for a little lube/maintance,

Is this an everyday driver or a garage goodie, if It's a mint car
go to the dealer parts dept, while buying handle, pick up a
bag of plastic door panel retainers, replace them all, there cheap
and will ensure a good tight fit, also you could ask one of the tech's for a few free rivits, I never had a problem giving them out, the dealer payed for them

Now take the extra time and lube your window regulator
tracks with a little silicone grease, spray down your door latch
and linkage with wd40, run window up and down a few times
to ensure lube is distributed evenly into tracks

Inspect all parts, make sure there all tight, doors get slammed around alot,

make sure all drain holes in bottom of door are clear of dirt

The same thing happened to me about a week after I got in the car (this was over a year ago now). I had forgotten to unlock the door before trying to open it and it just broke off. I bought one on ebay from 1aauto for like $12 or something I'm sure you can find one at a junkyard though. It was a pretty straight forward thing, but I kind of messed up my door panel when I removed it =/ So be careful.

If it has the large rivets, use a 1/4" drill bit to drill the heads off. If it has the small rivets, use a 1/8" or #30 drill bit.

Just go to the Junkyard and find a handle there. then drill out the rivets holding it on. do the same to the broken one and replace with a nut and bolt.

It's not hard at all. Just drill out the old rivets with the right size bit, remove old handle, get new handle, attach new handle with nuts and bolts. TaDa...your fixed.
