Pull Down Trunk Latch

I just completed a struggle with the power latch in my 87 TA GTA. I had the purchased the car with a defective latch of course. I played with this thing for several days and researched all the tips on the internet. The striker switch had been disconnected and laid to the side. I finally figured out what it was for and where it was mounted inside the latch. Eventually after many disassemblys, I ordered another striker switch and then substituted the original reversing limit switch with another spare one. Voila, the damn thing rose up and down. I quickly re-installed the latch, adjusted the position and placed the covers back on. If your motor functions and the base isn't cracked, then consider either the striker switch or the reversing switch and sometimes both.

Regards,
Laser

Ditto, I got mine working by salvaging parts from 3 diff. units. One had a stripped gear, one had a striker switch not working, and the other had a fried motor, lol. Now I have a working unit and some spare parts.
