power window is up all the way and doesnt try to move

in my 82 t/a the car has been sitting for quite a few years with dead or no engine in it since the orignal LG4 died in it when the car was in wyoming until i went and got it a couple summers back

well, the driver side glass doesnt do a thing when i try to roll it down, the motor doesnt make any sound at all or anything, nothing at all happens, wiring is all in good shape, i know this becuas ei ahev the entire console and everything removed,

the pass side works ok, but is slow,

what can you do to speed up window rolling and what do you think might be wrong on driver side ?

how can i test motor directly with it in the door still ? i have no problem with removing door panels, i actually need to do so soon anyways.

and where are the relays ? inside the doors ?

i havent found them inside the car anywhere else, yet the pass side glass rolls so..

thanks for anything

sounds like it froxe up / died.

my drivers side was going up and down real slow and then use to stop and take a while to get up or down. so once day i just stayed up and thankfull it was up because its my daily driver.

pull the panel like u said, and pull he connector from the motor and see if u get 12 volts going to it when u hit the switch. if u do it would be most likely the motor. to test the motor i guess get a spare battery or somehow and try to get the leads to touch the motor terminals.

bad experience?

i had to change mine took two people that never did one on a thirdgen before (me and my grandpop) about 1 hour.

saved alot of money doing it ourselves and the hardest part was i think cutting the rivets out and drilling the holes bigger to fit the bolts/nuts that came with the 55 dollar motor.

thanks for info i appreciate, sounds like i need to start by removing door paneland going from there, i just found out the other day that the door glasses were swapped out by a P/O because they were deep tinted before, swapped them with clear glasses. maybe he messed up the motor or something when he swapped

hmm..

thanks

Before you go tearing into the motor, try getting some new switches. My '87 IROC D/S window did nothing until I bought new switches. They now are still a little slow, but work just fine. Turns out my window switch button was dead.

I hate those freakin motors! I just replaced mine and that sucked big time! Those rivets are a pain especially when you put rivets back in and the window comes out of track! Ended up mounting it like 3 times before it was on good! 2 hours! Hey but the damn window goes down now!

The motor was bad on mine and it was stuck all the way up, before it got stuck it would move a little then stop.
