there is usually a rubber undercoating on the wells on the back, that for the most part protects the metal part of the wellls from rust corrosion etc

If you line the rear wheel wells with plastic, chances are that moisture and salt will still get above it and cause rust. If you drive you car in the winter the best way to prevent rust is to take it to a place like Krown and have it oil sprayed. I got my car sprayed before I put it away for the winter and I got the guy to coat it real good.

Either way you could just use POR-15 on it and not worry about rust anymore but that fender lip is hard to keep nice and clean.

The front fenders usually have some form of liner that is removable because the fender itself is.

Now you got me started on my inner fender lip in my car... The thing is completed rotted out!!! Mother f**cking GM. What a great design... lol. I wanted to know if i could just rip that whole lip off for good and round it out with my mig welder, sheetmetal, and por15? The lip is coming off and thats with poking it with my finger. I hate rust! By the way, what is thatpuddy-like stuff they use to fill the seems in the rear trunk area? Thats where the majority of my rust buildup is.
