Took a trip over to Summit Racing in Sparks NV yesterday and picked up my new 3 inch cowl hood Didn't want it shipped from there for fear of it getting damaged then having to repair stuff. After reading all kinds of horror stories and complaints about the fit and build quality I still took a chance. Overall I'm very happy with the quality of the hood. Trimmed everything up today, moved the hood once more after being able to close it down all the way and it clicked into place like it should.

Here's a shot after opening up the big freakin box. Couple little scratches at the very back but no cracks or broken bits

This was after setting the gaps as best I could before trimming the edges down. (dashpad is next on the cosmetics list of parts)

Then here it is today after taking a dremmel with a cut off wheel to the edges.

Once I get ready to paint the car I'll do all the final sanding of the edges and make some smaller adjustments of the stops but for now, it'll do No use of a prop rod either, just using the stock 82 gas shocks. The fiberglass hood is slightly lighter than the stock composite hood but not by much. So there it is, my car no longer looks stock

Looks nice. My Harwood is an old one and it came white instead of black. It's funny because my car is black and yours is white and we both have the wrong color hood.

Looks as if it still needs to come foward, I had to slot the hinges where they mount to the fenders to get it in the right spot

what are you doing with the old hood? Louvers it looks like!

I friend had a hood just like that on his gta at one time black on white also.... KEEP THE WAX UP on the hood or it fades fast.

Holy smokes........I'm having flashbacks from when I installed mine over 3 years ago. Looks good! You'll like it more once it's painted.

It's fitted good enough for now Going to do a bunch of work on the whole car when it comes time to paint. Still has a lot of adjustment left in the hinges so I'm not worried.

Screamin'87GTA, here's a pic of the old hood that's now sitting in the garage. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

I love that hood, man. Perfect cowl size, not too big and not too small! Can't wait to see it painted.

Awesome hood! The harwood is probably my favorite. Do you have any side shots?

I'll take some more pics tomorrow, but here's a look at how far it sticks up. Hehe gotta get used to driving with it on there, glad I didn't go any higher.

I have that same hood, and I agree about getting used to driving with it on there. The first time I drove up a hill, I had to stick my head out the window to see what was in front of me. I was thinking about going with a 4", but I"m not sure.

I have the exact same hood, came with the black gelcoat.. I don't know if I should blame Harwood or the body shop that painted my car, but the fitment on mine came out terrible.. Theres a HUGE gap between the front bumper cover and the hood and, its low to the driver side fender (vertically), and the gap between the fender on the driver side is somewhat wide, and its very small on the passenger side..

I've heard fitment on the Harwoods isnt the Greatest.

Yet another reason I'm going with a Cervini!

Looks good tho. Do they make one without the little "got hit on the nose and now there's a bump" angle in the cowl itself?
