Trans Am Tailights and Bumper on Z28?
Are Trans-Am taillights the same width as a Z28 rear? Do they bolt up the same way? Could I make a triangular filler panel and use my stock Camaro quarter panels with trans-am taillights and bumper cover. I have an 82 Z now, I've redone the whole front with billet grills and everything, But the back end is yuck...I love the looks of the trans-am rears and I got an 85 T/A parts car. I want to use the t/a taillights but shave the center and put a Z28 Logo there, And then redo the bumper cover with a frenched plate box...Can it be done fairly easily?

it wouldnt "bolt" up, more like weld up. it wouldnt be an easy job, but it wouldnt be the hardest ting to do. replacing the quarters isnt all that hard if you know how to weld and what not. the center piece behind the tail lights might have to be changed, but i dont know how that all goes on or what it connects to. personal opinion, keep the camaro rear end, just do something crazy with it. also, if you put a transam rear bumper on, you gotta put all new GFX on it, so it isnt just as simple as that if you want everything to line up correctly. im not sure if you need the sideskirts or whatever, but you need the QP GFX no matter what.

the rear is very different. As deadbird said, the firebird rear is a good bit wider. It'd probably be easier to modify a set of camaro lights. I'd suggest getting an extra set from a junkyard to mess around with.... maybe black out the triangular section and try applying a grid design on the inside of the rear section of the lens. It's a cool idea. good luck working on it

If the firebird lights are longer then wouldn't it be easier to modify the bird lights since you have some room for error?

Well, do the bird lights attach in the same holes as the Camaro ones? Right now I am working on some custom lights. Since I put some 89' Grid taillights in my car, I have an Extra 82' set, I filled and fiberglassed them, Now I am putting 3, 3 inch round lenses on them and drilling 2 1/2 inch holes in the back side of the lenses...I'll post progress pictures once I get them....If these dont look good, I might put some Supra lights in!!
