hood pins
I need to get hood pins that will be the only securing device for my hood. They need to be the type where the pin is attached to a cord so people cant steal my pins. As for a locking mechanism im fabbing up something dont worry about that. I need to know where is the best place to get hood pins from? What is the best finish for them to have i would like to stay away from chrome as much as possible. Just for reference its a silver car.

The jegs ones are fine, and so are the Mr. Gasket ones. I have the Mr. G ones on my car and my only complaint is that they rust up if you leave them in the weather. Obvioulsy. I tried keeping up with them by polishing them like once a week, but I couldn't keep up with the rust. I would say that you could have yours powder coated or painted or something, but eventually the paint or powder coat would wear off at the contact points. Unless you get aluminum or stainless pins, the rust will win the battle.

mine haven't rusted, but it's garaged kept and only a fair weather car. they're only 12.99 a set so if you replace them once a year it's not that big of a deal.

Well, they are only like $12, so if they do rust in 10 years, you won't really have to break the bank to replace them.
Anyway, I like that set in the 2nd post, but if you don't want people stealing your pins, don't use pins, use key rings.
