Well..seats and console is in!

Man that console was a bitch to install... but after some work with my dremel and countless test fits I got it all in... these consoles will bolt in but they are not just a "drop in" item (at least it wasn't for me)

The seats were a "drop in" item... simple unbolt old seats, bolt in new seats and yer done...

I have a few more small things to take care of but it 99.99% done I still need a shifter boot (which will take some modifications no doubt)

Couple of pics (sucky digi cam but you get the picture )

Things just wouldn't fit nicely together... shifter was in the way of the top piece of the console, bolt holes under the glovebox didn't want to line up... it just fought me all the way, maybe it is a lot easier than it went for me (seems that is the case after all of the searches I did on this board)... but in the end it was worth it...

Two questions.

Where'd you mount the window switches?

What do you plan on doing with the slit/hole above the firebird pod that is open?

Looks real good from the pictures The cupholders themselves made it worth it for me

Looks good!!!

I'll be in the process of doing that in a couple of months (plus a dash and door panels).

And from everyone I've talked to that did the console swap w/ keeping the 3rd gen dash said it's a pain to do. But definatly looks sweet!!!

Is there a gap between your back seats and the panels?? Some people say there is, others say they're not. What year car did you pull those seats out of??

I mounted the window switches in the 4th gen ashtray I will post a close up pic of that later and as you can see from the pic I mounted the hatch release where the traction control panel was in the '98.

I haven't decided on what to do with the hole between the dash and radio pod yet (it isn't overly noticeable but it is still there).... some people have cut the top off there original console and mounted it on, but I don't think I want to cut up my original console (think I will keep it)... I am going to fabricate something though...

And ya wouldn't think cupholders would make people so happy... but I can't wait to go through the Tim Horton's drive-thru...I may even buy 4 coffees just so I can put 'em in the 4 cupholders (j/k)

Yeah there is a gap between the seats and the side panels but nothing that noticeable (if you weren't looking for it you would over look it)...I will take some pics of it and post it later

I got my seats and console out of this 1998 Firebird Formula WS6 (LS1 - 6 speed). It was my buddies car who, sadly, completely demolished it on the highway last fall...he was cut off by an idiot driver, he tried to avoid that idiot and ended up into the soft grass covered median (which was wet), tried to recover but went out of control, struck a SUV and finally ended up doing 2 complete end for end flips in the ditch... sucky day indeed but thankfully he walked away without a scratch...

They were very lucky indeed.. the Formy didn't fare so well, when I got a look at it it broke my heart....it looked like some big set of hands grabbed the car by the front and the rear and twisted it....it was a 12.0 sec car too... with too many aftermarket parts to mention (12 bolt moser rear end) etc etc....

But the main thing is that my buddy walked away with only a seat belt rash on his shoulder...

Here's a pic of where I mounted the window switches.... in the ashtray.. little hide-away lid keeps them outof sight which is kinda cool....I had to fabricate a piece to mount them on....

Here's two pics of the back seats... if you are looking from the side you can notice the gap... if you look at the seats straight on it is less noticeable...

Front on shot

From the side shot..

IMO it is not an issue...nobody is ever back there anyway!! LOL
