Figured i'd update this thread. I'm very off on my guesses on when i'll get to stuff, i just repainted the passengers door yesterday lol, but i also painted the fender so i guess i'm ahead of the game. I'm happy with the results, got some stuff in the clear, but hopefully it'll sand / buff out. I also painted the driver side door jam. Hope to have the drivers door and fender as well as hatch painted tomorrow. This car isn't going to be perfect but once it'll look 1000 times better then it did last summer. When i'm finished i'll post a before and after.
hey i had asked my teacher if he ever heard of a 72 hour window and he said yeah and also martin seniour has a week window on some of its paints. sorry bout that man, urs shouldn't peel

That's a releif lol. Thanks for checking. I already have two coats of base on the drivers door, fender and hatch. I should be done in the next hour and a half or so with the next coat of base and clear. I'll post pics when done.

Some new pictures. Tomorrow i'll take some pictures outside so it'll shine alot more. There is no light source in this picture beside the sunlight getting through the canopy.

The drivers side seam isn't as good as the passengers. I was having a hard time getting the holes to line up so I wound up "tweaking" the body side lower hinge. The lower part of the drivers door sticks out slightly. I gotta order a new one because the roller is screwed up anyway. I won't be getting that for a few months though. Not really looking foward to removing the hood, fender and lower hinge pin with new paint.

Put some stuff back on the car today. Installed new door weather stripping, new passangers exterior door handle, new outer window sweep, reinstalled the triangle seal. Bolted up and lined up the fenders, for the most part anyway. I need to work on the rear lower bolts, the mounting tabs are bent back. Installed the inner fender liners. Btw, it's a bad idea to do that without the fender completely bolted in. It caused me to chip my paint on the drivers side door edge, oops
. Also put the rear bumper emblems on.

Remember to add "flex" agent to your paint on the GFX and nose cone. That way it won't crack if it bends a little.

You probably haven't rubbed up against anything yet. Good on ya for adding it to the primer, though.

I'm hoping this goes to a second page soon as i'm sure this takes forver to load on a 56k. Anyway, the end is near. I'm hoping to be driving this thing by the weekend or early next week. Here's some new pictures.
I painted the cowl flat black yesterday. Today I installed the new t-top center bar and t-top weather stripping. I still need to adjust the windows but it looks like it'll seal well. The Donut is on the rear because the rims are going to get sand blasted, repainted, and have new tires mounted on them this week.

Did you sand all the old paint off when you first started or did you use paint stripper? Isn't it better if you paint everything at once or does it turn out ok if you go peice by peice, also what kind of paint gun are you useing? Yours is turning out great from what I can see.

I sanded down to primer in most areas. I tried a chemical stripper on the doors because there was a lot of paint but it seemed like sanding was actually quicker. I used a DeVilbliss gun I bought from harbor freight. I'll admit it looks better in pictures but over the summer I'll touch up and redo certain spots that didn't come out great. Here's a crappy piture from yesterday.
Looks like i'll need to adjust the door some more also. With the all new weatherstripping it's b*tch to close. Hopefully they'll wear in. Basically just the hood and the drivers side spoiler peice is all that's left. If the rims aren't done this week, i'll get a used tire for matching 15" rims i have on there for the time being. My goal is to drive it this weekend.

Wow, thanks for showing tons of during and after pics! I really really want to do this to my car... but, once again, no garage! (Or skills, or knowledge, or ... ... ... you get it)

I've been driving it for the past few days. I forgot how much fun this car is. It's not complete yet. Hood needs to be painted this week and i need a new spoiler peice but that's about it. It should be done next week or so.
