Got to get P1ss smell out of seats!

I got a set of front seats for my T/A out of the bone yard and worked on cleaning them up over a two week period. I got them so that they looked like new. I figured they would be safe in the basement.

WRONG!!

My 7 year old stepson decided he was too lazy to come down from his second floor bedroom when he had to p1ss, and for the last few months has been p1ssing down the f@cking heat vent and in the corner of his room.

My wife swore that the smell was there when we bought the house and that it was cat p1ss. Well it got so bad that I tore out the carpet and kept on ripping crap out till I found out...

Anyway,

The seats were directrly under the damn vent pipe in the basement and got soaked.

Am I just junking them or can the smell be removed?

This is one situation where if I didn't fear my government the "Rule of Thumb" would apply.

holy crap, yeah, beat the crap out of that kid.

Anyway, for the **** smell. I would rent one of those rug shampoo'ers and clean the seats with that. If that doesn't work, you may have to put in new padding and wash the covers at a dry cleaners or something.

Someone on here awhlie back recommended WD40 for removing the smell of cat **** from his seats. My roommates cat pissed on one of my blankets, and after washing it 4 times the smell was still there, so I tried the WD40 and it DOES work.

Well cat **** is a lot different than human ****. Cat **** doesn't go away....I say you fabreeze the hell out of the seats and let them sit till the fabreeze dries and evaporates some of the smell then use one of them rug dr. machines. I think you can get the smell out....or instead of fabreeze you can get one of those pet odor removing sprays they sell at the pet stores, might work better than the fabreeze.

Well if cat **** "doesn't go away" and the WD-40 made it go away, then I assume it would work even better with human ****.

Yeah but didn't your seats smell like WD-40 afterwards? I think you can avoid having to clean up the WD-40 afterwards if you use my method. Not that I don't think it wouldn't work considering it took the cat **** smell away, but human urine is not bad enough that it would need the use of WD-40.

It might be a stretch, but...

...Simple Green seems to get everything out. Strip off the covers and soak them in a solution of Green and hot water, agitating frequently with help from the offending kid (no, not a swirly, have him stir lol).

I have cleaned out blood, sweat, and animal wizz with the aforementioned method. Regrettably I cannot speak from experience concerning the padding. Well, not regrettably

What possesses a kid to pee into the wall vent? We do not have kids yet, but this one is going on my short list of "Do this and live in the backyard until you move out" atrocities. Hope that all goes well for you, seriously.

Peace,

K

My ex-bud pissed himself while sleeping shotgun in my ride one nite. I just borrowed a wet vac, sprayed the hell out of it with antbacterial stuff and sucked it up. Worked well. Bastard was still too drunk the next morning to clean up his mess, so I had to take matters into my own hands. that day sucked.

I too would be pissed if I were in your shoes. Are the seats stained, or do they just smell of ****? If they are stained from the **** I'd junk them. Infact I don't hink I could sit on them knowing that someone had once pissed all over them.

I'd try some sort of sofa cleaner, you know, the foam stuff in the can?

That might solve that problem.

As for the other problem. I'd stick his head in the vent pipe, run upstairs and **** away. If it doesn't cure the problem, it'll sure **** him off.

Please don't take this as a personal attack on parents, but there is something SEVERLY wrong with a 7 year old child who will **** down vents rather than go to the bathroom. I wouldn't even tolorate it out of a 4 year old. Accidents yeah, occasionally from a 4 year old. But to intentionally do it? There's something wrong.

I teach for a living so I've plenty of experience with the "normal" tendancies of children.

wow..you've got a lazy bastard on your hands. LOL
Now occasionally like if i'm out fishing and needa go (#1) I think its acceptable to find a tree or a bush (hey, out in the middle of the woods by the lake, noones around, no restrooms....)....but i have never, NEVER, EVER been to lazy to go to the bathroom at home. LOL
Aside from that, i'd take the seat covers off, put them through the washing machine a few times, and then worry about the foam (maybe replace it?)
Might be alot of work but i think that would be the best way to get more out of it....

Actually pet stores do sell some stuff that is specifically made to remove urine smells. It is some kind of enzyme or something.Mix it with water, spray it on or better yet add it to the water you should be using to steam clean the seats with and it should detox any leftover smells.I have heard that it is very effective. They sell kinds for dogs and cats.I would go for the dog kind, not sure how that translates to humans..

The seats are not stained, in fact they still look like new. I am not so sure now that the seats were in the direct line of fire. They were under the vent's elbow, but upon further investigation I think that the elbow didn't leak and that all the **** ran down to the heat exchanger in the furnace. There are signs of corrosion from a liquid on the top of the heat exchanger.

I took the seats outside to the garage to see if they will air out. It is finaly nice here, and I have a dehumidifier in the garage. If that doesn't work then i think I will be renting a rug Dr. and using the fabreez. If that doesn't work then I guess my wife will be breaking out the plastic so that I can buy some racing seats or somthing.

Sure would be nice if I didn't have to live at work, maybe some of this could have been avoided.

Now if I could just get the smell out of the floor joists (going to fill the floor with a couple hundred pounds of cedar chips).

You could have easily avoided it, make the kid wear diapers.

Got an air compressor? May speed up the "airing out" process if you catch my drift.

Actually come to think of it, using a air gun from an air compressor and shop vac will get a lot of smell out of seats. I did that on the bench seat in the truck I'm restoring and it got the raunchy smell out of it. The seat had just been refurbished then the truck sat for 3-4 years, but using the air gun and shop vac got all the smell out of it.

I came up with an idea that might work. I am going to get a 2" nipple about 6 inches long from work and 2 bell reducers and make a chamber that I can thread onto the end of my air gun. Then I will shove a handfull of fabric softener sheets into the chamber and then blow the air through the fabric softener sheets and into the seats.

Hey its worth a shot.

smelly seats

You can try what I did for an entire car that smelled. I waited for a very hot day, went to the car wash. I sprayed the heck out of it, but don't use the pressure on anything near the dash. Then I used my trusty shop vac to get all the water out of the seats and carpet. Getting the water out was the most time consuming. I left the doors open all afternoon in 100 degree heat and it was fine. I wouldn't recommend this except in the most extreme cases. It was really a lot of work, but this car really reeked.

Man this is a strange topic!! Gotta love this board.

A while back I posted about how my cat pissed in my car on the way to the vet. Search for "cat peed in my car".

I tried a BUNCH of different products. What worked best was steam cleaning it. And lots and lots of febreeze for a while!

Human urine is much less potent than cat urine, so you are lucky.

Oh and I am just about finished with medical school, and have done lots of pediatrics. I can tell you that your kid is prob fine. Enuresis (bed wetting) and what he is doing are kind of common. (nobody would prob admit to it though when they are older). Just make sure he understands that there are rules.

If he has other developmental abnormalities (poor grades, poor relationships with peers, behavioral problems) I'd recommend taking him to your pediatric (or family) doctor and getting a referral to a child psychiatrist or (PHd) psychologist.

OR just kick his ***!!! Seriously this is whats wrong with people these days. That kid dont need a Doctor he needs his *** whooped!

Back to the **** smell. Try some fast orange and some 409 with oxy. they work good.

I totaly agree, but he is my step-son and I have to be careful how I discipline him because of our commie government here in Illinois. They don't want you to spank your kids because its "child abuse" but at the same time, they will be the first to throw the book at you and fine you when your kids screw up as teenagers.

I told him if he ever does it again he WILL get the belt. He is going without a room for now for the next few weeks as I take my time fixing it. That is killing him as it is. (no toys video games, nothing, go outside and play in the street boy)

As for the seats I took them out to the garage and packed them in plastick with like a pound of mothballs each and now they smell mediciny fresh.

br()bert ::Whats worse with people these days is ignoring whats right infront of their face and thinking that a "good spanking" is the answer to all their childrens problems. There really isn't one solution to everything. I believe in disciplining your kids (paddle, spanks etc.). But the literature shows that if other co-morbidities are present (i.e. your kid is f-ing up in more than 1 area/situation), its best to get things checked out by someone who knows a heck of a lot more about development than you do.

Its not fair to say that not spanking leads to more problems. "Not spanking" was a school of thought most popular in the 70's and 80's. I'm sure you know that there were plenty of f-ed up people before then.

But oh well...this isn't somewhere people go to get medical info, so I'll just shut the f up.:lala:

Too bad he didn't wizz on that wall socket, that would've tuned him up!!!!
I remember that the last time there was a wizz issue the individual had the seats steam cleaned and that did the job.

alright i know some people would disagree with spanking, but all i have to say is if little johnny likes pissing in wall vents and he doesn't get his *** kicked, what next? theres a time and a place for spanking and that would be a time for it.

as far as the smell goes mothballs shopvac and fabreeze will be your best bet

That will be the real challenge. Compared to that, the seats will be easy.

Good luck with everything. Hopefully, it will all be good as new soon.
