How much weight reduction with a fiberglass hood???

I am looking to get some weight off of the front end of my 89 Camaro by replacing my stock steel hood with a Fiberglass hood like a ASSD or Harwood. I want to use my stock hardware and struts. How much weight will I save???

Thanks...

You'll only end up saving about 20 pounds or so estimated never weighed the two to compare.

20 pounds is being very generous... with a solid fiberglass hood, you don't save much weight our sheet metal is awefully thin and fiberglass is rather heavy... if you want to change the hood for weight purpose only... don't...

I didn't weight the difference, but maybe I should. My harwood 3 inch bolt on hood felt a lot lighter than the factory steel hood. I could lift the thing with ease, but I had to get help with the steel hood. Before I get everything painted I'll weight the 2 to see the real difference.

i would think around 50 pounds? no idea really, just know i've removed soo much weight from mine that the front sits 1.25 inches higher than it did before i start gutting stuff out of the nose. so it's really noticable now. gonna see how it works out with true duals....or it's time to start hacking half a coil.

are you kidding me. unless i have a factory reject my stock 91l98 hoos was extremely heavy. takes at least 2 people just to move it around let alone set it up properly on the car.

my ss ascd hood is easily very lightweight in comparison. my car raised 1" with the stock hood off although i'm using 200lb springs. while i think it's a waste for stict weight reduction it's significant to say the least...more so then any other mod. try to find worn out hood shocks though as good working ones will put to much stress on the fiberglass.
