what a waste of money!can i use this?

today i bought one of those roller cover things that cover the trunk area, it connect inside the trunk and the other end to the hatch>u no what i mean, they came stock. anyway so i am all happy because i found one that works and is in perfect shape, then i go to install it and i have no places to put it, my trunk+hatch does not haveing any connecting points unless i am missing something i though they were stock?? i have a 1983 Z28, did they not design these covers for my car or something???
is there i way i can get it to work??

It was an option. The option included the window shade deal, and a metal bracket that attaches to the rear hatch under the plastic cover, which also has slots in it (the cover). Then there are 2 holes in the rear interior panels just by the rear tire bulges that have the round plastic mounting things (about an inch or so in diameter) that the shade itself hooks into.

You can modify your car to make this stuff work, but I think the option on your year car was the hard plastic hinged cover, not the window shade thingus.

I hope this makes some sort of sense, it sounds pretty lame on re-reading it.

Good luck

This is what it would fit in. I dont know if your particular year had them or not. I know the 85 Z28's had them. They are attached to the rear panel by two screws.

go to the junkyard and and find a car that has a shade and either buy the panels with the holes in them for mounting the shade, or take a piece of paper and trace their location and transfer it onto your panels and cut the right size hole. Then get the round brackets that the shade slides into and use two sheet metal screws to bolt them to the body. The holes should be there wether the car came with the shade or not. I just had to do this when i put a black interior in my car and there were no holes for my shade.

On cars that did not come with the shade, if you take the rear panels off and look on the back, you should see an outline of what and where you have to cut out to install the mounts.

If you don't have to, I wouldn't. You can always find those on hatches in the boneyard. Take the trim pieces off and you should see a bracket on each side of the car where those mounts connect.
