General welding question

This is for anyone who welds or knows something about welding. What do you think would be the most versatile/efficient welder for 3rd gen camaros. Mainly body work.

if you are never going to need it at a friends house, and are going to use it often, a nice 220v MIG welder.. the 220 is a pain to travel with somtimes because not everyone has a 220 outlet. but it is more efficent then a 110 model, so your eletric bill is lower if you use it alot.

if you want to be able to bring it over someones house, or if you dont use it that often, get a good 110v MIG. one with a nice DIAL for heat settings, not a switch.

I've been looking around at welders, getting peoples opinions. Most say for body work go MIG, some say Flux-Core.

I've been reading about it, I have hands on experience with Stick welding all through-out high school from Agriculture, mainly doing heavy metal work. I've seen the prices on some of these MIG welders...

What's the average price do you think for a MIG, what would you pay.... Just wondering if what I'm seeing is right or if what I'm seeing is too expensive or cheap

Lincoln MIG Welders that use 220v go for about 600+
Miller MIG Welders that use 220v go for about 500+

Is that what I'll be expecting to pay?

Miller is probably a few bucks cheaper than Lincoln. Hobart is a few bucks cheaper than both. All are very high quality machines. If you are realistic about your needs (want to do sheetmetal only) you can get a Lincoln Weldpak at Home Depot of Lowes. If you want to go a little heavier, step up to a 220 machine. Get mig. It is dramatically cleaner than fluxcore.

I did alot of researching and thinking about future projects when i bought mine, . . and I'm extremely happy with it.

I was told the competition (Lincon & Daytona) used a plastic wire feeding mechanism instead of a heavy duty metal feeder. Check millers website out. . .

Millermatic 175. Cost about 650.00 from a local welding supply shop.

My lincon has a metal liner. One of my buddys had a miller and he loved it i tried it out and it was ok but i was taught on a lincon so i just think thats what i'm use to.The 1 thing i did not like about the miller is the handle is bigger than the lincon (hard to get in tight spots) but they both get the job done and prob any other brand welder
