Car worth asking price?
I'am probably going to buy this 85 Z28 for 1700... it isnt perfect but considering the limited availability of cars in my area and price range this looked like a very good project to me. Im not worried about engine, transmission or interior and the body doesnt look like it would need to much work but it does have a bit of rust. You think its worth 1700?

Depends, at least in my experience. When the car I own was up for sale there were three serious potential buyers, but they all wanted the owner to come down on price a bit. I paid 5k on the spot, not because the car was actually worth that much - but just because I found the exact car I was looking for....right down to the options.

The pictures are to big to post here but here are the specs.
Engine: 305
Transmission: 700R4
Miles: 135,000
The car is in decent shape has a bit of surface rust on the front fender and looks like some was fixed but not painted back over right next to the gas tank... it has seats out of a 96 z28 and the interior looks in good shape although a little dirty but thats not a problem. The steering wheel is missing the center cap and im pretty sure it doesnt work by the looks of the wires, carpet could use a cleaning but doesnt look to be in to bad a shape. And it is also missing the part of the grille that says Camaro and the front liscense plate is taped on. He also wants 2000 I tried talking him down to 1700 but he wont settle for nothing less then 2000. The paint is peeling down by the ground effects and by the front and rear headlights and the z28 emblem is faded off the driver side ground effects. He told me that the car runs and drives good and it looks like a perfect project which is what im looking for and considering the other cars in my price range are atleast 500 miles away I dont know how long its going to take to find another one around my area. I just wish I didnt have to buy on a budget im sure you all can relate to that.
Will try to get pictures as soon as I can and thanks for the help!!!

I dont think I would pay 2000 for it. It looks sorta dirty and not looked after from checking out the pics. Personally I would suggest that you wait for something better to come by. I looked a 3rd gens constantly for 5 years before I bought one.

umm i would say no.
i got my 85 same specs with blown trans everything else was decent small dent in front end. 1000. 74 000 orig miles.
1000 i think would be the outside for a project anything higher better have some good areas like perfect interior or body. Or low miles. what is up with that fuzzy dash.......
i found an 87 in maine with a bad engine 600/500 buck hard top car. So they are out there for 2k i think you could find better. Now if he would take 1.5 k i would look again.

bah His car isnt worth more then 1000.00 with even small things youve mentioned. Hell I sold my trans am a couple weeks ago for 600.00 and it had a rebuilt tranny new exhaust inspected etc etc. All it really needed was interior cuz it was crappy, and engine was smoking.
Id suggest looking into autotrader magazines, and other sources.

I didnt think it was worth 2000 I might have paid 1750 out of desperation but im looking at an 86 Iroc with 5.0 TPI, it is red with t-tops and in great shape, automatic with 96,000 miles on it. It also has a pretty nice system in it, could use paint but its still in decent shape and I get paint jobs cheap considering my uncle does it profesionally. But im going to have to drive quite the distance to get it but its to nice to pass up for 1500.
