C&C t-top headliner

Does anyone know how to replace one of these. I had to pull mine because it was trashed and the backing board is not usable. Has anyone used a hardtop one and trimmed it to fit. If so how did it work, any pics or suggestions. I've been searching but only come up with having a custom one made, $$ that I don't have, and using the hardtop trimmed to fit but there was no resulting info.

please give any suggestions if you have had to deal with this before.

Thanks
Tim

I also overlapped the headliner here under the plastic trim. This helped to get rid of some squeeks/rattles.

I am going to be recovering mine and want to know how you got yours to fold over the edges so well. Did you sew it or glue it or what? I want to do mine in like a vinyl or leather.

No glue or stitching.Just cut the headliner form a hard top car so it overlaps past the t-top edges by a good 2-3 inches. Then tuck it inbetween the weather strip & metal body(channel) of the roof.Afterward trim any excess headliner.Just try to work the material as far down into the channel so it doesnt slip out later. It helps too of the seals are out of the channel. The way i did it was first i cut the headliner, then i removed the seals, clean the channels, applied the silicone, tucked in the headliner as i layed down the new seals.Let it set.

I contacted the Sunroof Doctor which has alot of parts for the C&C T-tops about the headliner in my 86 which has come apart. They stated that all C&C did was take the hardtop backerboard and headliner and cut it, then put the trim pieces around the edges to keep it from fraying. The headliner was glued onto the backerboard just as the original one was.

What type of glue did they use? Because after so long it doesn't hold anymore. Im thinking epoxy or gorrilla glue would hold better, maybe fiberglass&resin it on every few inches? Thats what i was maybe thinking. Im not sure how well it will still seal if you put it under the weather stripping. I have my doubts about it such as water or something getting under there and rusting it out? I dont know... Not that im too worried about rain since when im finished with my car it wont be driven in the rain or snow period.

3M General Trim spray adhesive or Fast Tack Trim adhesive. Both work very well for glueing the material to the backerboard and will not sag.

Very nice job with that headliner there! I have C&C tops as well, and though my headliner is not sagging the plastic trim peices that hold the tops in broke and it rattles like crazy now. I was thinking that when I get around to it I'd try and design something similar to the GM ASC T-top adjustable holes. That might get rid of some of the squeeks.
