Just curious if anyone has purchased the reproduction fenders from Classic Industries for a Camaro. They are so much cheaper than the OEM fenders, but if fit is a problem...is it worth it? Any insight into those fenders or other reasonable replacement fenders would be much appreciated.

I am also wondering this, I have heard some repop fenders and body panels don't line up. I would rather put on new than have rust pop up somewhere else.

 

I got a re-pro fender for a firebird from a collision supply place, it fit well, just had to grind a flange in 2 places.

How much id the classic Ind one? Last time I grabbed one (a few years back) I think I paid a whopping $75.

 

I have purchased a front fender (quarter panel) and have yet to put it on not because of the product but lack of time. I put the fender up to the car and from all looks it seems to fit in nicely.

 

In the last catalog I had from Classic Industries (2001 maybe) the repro fender was $99 or so. That is why I was wondering, because the oem fenders run about $200-$300 more than that if I remember correctly. If the repro fits good, that is what I want...but only if it fits good. My replacement fender came from a local shop, not on line.

 

Everything I've heard about reprodiction fenders has not been good. They're not as durable as OEM and almost always have fitment issues.

 

J.C. Whitney and the crap they sell on E bay has gotten the aftermarket that rep.

 

If that is the case, does anyone know about the quality from Classic Industries? They apparently pride themselves on reproduction parts that are made to high standards...at least that the impression I get from their catalog.

No, unfortunately I did not. I forgot all about this post until you replied to it. I haven't had much time or money to do much this summer with the car wither, so I haven't bought fenders and am still curious.

Well, school was kickin me in the butt this summer, so never got around to putting on the fender from CI. I hope to do some work either during Thanksgiving or Winter break

 

Do let us know how it goes when you get the time to do it. Does the fender appear to be of good quality? I am still very interested in getting two for my Camaro.

If you're restoring the car, go OEM; if you're just maintaining the body, go aftermarket and hope for the best. It's been my experience that you get what you pay for.

Another alternative would be to hit up a pick'n'pull yard for an undamaged OEM fender.

I do not necessarily want to restore the car to perfection, but would like to get rid of some of the rust that has infested it over the past few years. That is why I am interested in aftermarket fenders...they are cheaper. If they fit decently, then I would be interested in them. I guess I am looking for the best quality for the best price.
