Installing 2002 SS Seats soon...gotta question
I just ordered a set of 2002 Ebony Leather SS Seats and I'm now removing my old seats to get ready for the new set. Anyhow, I removed the back seats....and noticed this metal bar that connects the rear folding seats. Do I need to cut this bar out in order to install my new rear seat?
Also, I'm going to be changing the tracks on my drivers seat because the new drivers seat isn't power...and my factory seat is....have you guys done this before? A buddy of mine said it's not hard at all...and just want to hear what everyone has to say. Thanks guys

Pick one side, hit with hammer 5 times, pick other side hit with hammer 5 times
Repeat until it loosens and comes out
Mine rubbed againist the folding rear back seat, so eventually it would have caused a hole
Personally, I don't see any reason in keeping it there unless you plan on having a split folding seat again in the future......

For the track it will swap between the 3ed and 4th gen just fine, alot of people have doen it because of buying a 4thgen seat with a bent track.
For the rear ive got a question why does the rear seat fold anyways its not as it give you more room, I use it to keep the seat from sun rotting but...
anyways unless you plan on putting in a split in the future I would hammer them out like flyinglow did where it doesn't rub a hole in there.

I'll be getting them in about 5 days or so
Thanks for all the help guys...when I Get the seats...I'll just have to see how everything will go on...and I'll make the decision whether to bend that piece down or not....I plan on never going back stock anyways...now I just need to get rid of my old seats

I doubt genuine 4th gen leather will be going for less any time soon. I paid a similar amount about a year ago

2002 Trans Am Black Leather, the deals are out there, just have to look for them, a local person parting out a wrecked car or someone posting them for sale on a message board is your best bet
Sometimes prices can get inflated on ebay.com since so many people turn there first..
84CustomZ28, you should have no problem getting rid of your seats, I sold mine on ebay.com and got a pretty penny considering they were stock cloth grey seats, may even try the classifieds here on TGO

Anyways I lucked out I got some halfway decent grey leather seats out of a 97 off ebay for 100 bucks, now I would never claim they were perfect and wasn't really the ones I wanted, but they alot better than the factory ones.

I paid $700 for my '96 SS leather seats off Ebay.
The seats looked PREMO in the pics, but in real life, they just "ok". The leather is pretty hard and the back seat looks like there was a jagged metal object sitting on it for a while because its got depressions in it with points.
As for shipping, that was a nightmare too. The box was packed well and plastic wrapped many times.... BUT - FedEx treated the box like it was garbage. I got the seats, the tracks were bent, the one box was crushed and the seat belt guard (where the back meets the bottom) was broken to bits.
I'd say best bet, buy local and look at them before you buy. Thus was my experience anyway.

I had no trouble having mine shipped from FL to CA via UPS. Seats came in no time and they were in excellent shape. Its hit and miss really man. If you find the right seats for the right price, don't let shipping stand in the way. It didn't cost all that much. The man I bought them from was awesome and quoted me to the penny. He actually picked up a few bucks extra that is cost to ship em

An air hammer will pull that right off, if you dont have one use a chisel and hammer and slowly knock if off. The tack welds on the floor pans is very weak, so again hammer and chisel will pull if off like butter.

Thanks evecustoms
It sound like I won't even need to remove it though. I guess I'll just wait and see when I get my seats how it will act.
