HVAC swap

Are all HVACs the same? Mine is a little torn up and needs replacing. From what I understand they are still available via GM, and if so then i would like to pick up one from a 90 or old (or whatever year wasnt all into the damn yellow).

Also, how is the unit lit up? The car is on the other side of state right now so I cant just take it out and look. Im ordering more lights online and if they are lit up by this light:

then I will go ahead and buy a few of those.

My 88 has the standard push in 194 bulb. Only one lamp and not too bright at that. White lettering. Don't really know about later versions.

In 90 with the dash change, the hvac went to yellow print to match the gauges. I want to say it still uses the 194 bulbs (as in a pair instead of one poorly lit single) but, I've slept since I yanked the bulbs from mine on my 91. Anything from 82-89 should all be white and use the 194 though. The bird hvac fits but, not 'properly' concerning the face. The camaro trimplate opening isn't quite as large as a firebird and shrouds the firebird hvac face if installed in camaro. IIRC, the bird uses the really tiny bulb that I don't know the # for.

Are you talking about the T1.5 bulbs? (kind of a smaller version of 194).

The reason why I brought it up is that I will have my camaro back in about 20 days, but im finishing up the LED swap over in my truck. I am missing a few for my truck, and didnt want to spend extra money on shipping if I can just go ahead and get the camaro bulbs while at it. Since I dont have the camaro in front of me I have no idea what bulbs are needed.

Thanks for the help though.
