Inside Door panel help /Window rattles
I am going to be putting new door top panels on and new window fuzzies and tint. What I need to know is what should I all lubricate inside because my window rattles something terrible? What should I use to lubricate also? I figure I only want to tear this apart once to fix everything. Also I notice a little water leaks in towards the front by the triangle seal. Why is this happening? How can I stop this? I put a new headliner in and when I went to install the a pillar trim I couldnt get the plastic hardware into the metal slot on the side any help with this would be appreciated also. Thanks.

To stop the leaking try adjusting the window and triangle seal. I've heard white lithium grease works well for lubing the window tracks. Might as well spray it on the scissor joints and maybe use some on the motor gears. Also since you have the door panel off it'd be a good idea to remove your latch, degrease it and regrease it with white lithium grease. If your power door locks were sticking this will most likely fix it. Also, check to make sure all the bolts are tight in there and if you remove them use some locktite on them when you replace them. I just started to use locktite on them after i noticed they had some from the factory.

It's coming along well althought i'm considering venturing to the dark side, a 4th gen heh. Most auto parts stores will cary that grease. It comes in a spray can.

ARGH!!! Spent a not so plesant day in the sun tearing apart the drivers door on my 85-Z. A few notes that I'll add based on what I learned the hard way (actually, my buddy & I learned since it wouldn't have gotten done without his help).
Lubricant - Looks like GM used Syl-Glyde on the tracks and gears. The silicone grease won't stain, react or deteriorate the rubber & plastic parts. Many greases & aerosol greases will react with rubber & plastics in a not so nice way. 100% silicone spray lubes are fine for film treatments but you really need to have some silicone grease to stick to the tracks, rollers & gears. You should be able to find it at NAPA, AutoZone or other parts house. A tube will last a long time.
Rattles... a lot of causes. My door had most of them.
- Upper window stop mounted on window was broken. It allowed the window to rise too high & not seal well. Was a 'L' shaped bracket riveted through the glass. Pulled a good one from a spare door & installed with a small bolt to replace the rivet that we carefully cut & drilled off. - NOTE: when cutting on the rivet, don't let it get hot or the shank will melt the plastic bushing that passes through. You'll need that bushing
Lower Stop - Just a rubber **** which was broken off the bracket attached to the window bottom. Reglue to the bracked, or like I did, silicon glue to the bottom of the door at the same place it would hit if still attached to the bracket.
Dew Wipe - how's the outer wipe? of it's hard or cracked, now's the time to replace it. This may help reduce a lot of the rattles and will help reduce the leaks.
The front guide adjustment is important. Make sure that the window moves freely & that there's not any junk or debris in it.
Clean out the bottom of the door!. I was amazed at the amount of little stuff that had accumulated there. Also make sure that the drain holes are clear. Paint any rust spots that you find.
You're already planning on replacing the inner fuzzies. Make sure that they're snugly adjusted & the bolts are tight.
Hope this helps some...
Have fun!
