Seat problems... they won't lock!
I don't know what code or what these seats are called but u can see them in the pic. I think they look really great and have good support.... but the quality I feel is not so good. First of all they make alot of noise when driving and second they woun't lock. There's this little lever on the backside but it seems to have no use what so ever. Is this a common problem on these? And what can I do about it??

That little lever is there to unlock the seat so it can tilt forward. You can replace the whole mechanism if you want to. Just go to a junkyard and get a set of them from a 4th gen seat. Same thing as what is in the 3rd gens, just cost more at the dealership.
Whoops! didn't see the location in your profile so a junkyard might not be your best option. But the answer your question about it being a common problem, yes it is.

Hehe! Almost everyone I know says they look like E.T.! But I like E.T. so
Just worried that it could be a problem in a crash if they don't lock... but neither does my seatbelt :/ Managed to fix it once but now it's screwed up again darn it!

I was under the impression they locked when the car lurches foward, kind of like the seat belts do...
Regardless, I would get the seatbelt fixed ASAP!!!

Mr.W's right; the seat won't tilt forward in an accident; it's got an inertia lock. I believe the "seat not tilting forward" is to prevent anythign heavy from crushing you between the seat and steering wheel... so yeah altho the seat protects you from going backward, it still shouldn't pin you against the steering wheel (or dash).
The lever is there when you park with the car facing down a hill. In fact, if you just raise the rear of your car with a jack, you'll find that the front seats won't tilt forward. That's when that little lever is needed.
Liquid_Metal, did you ever have the seatbelt recall work done to your car? All 82-92 seatbelts are covered by GM for the bad locking button. The bad buttons usually turn bright pink instead of red. The replacement recall buttons are bright red and have a silver clip on the outside of the housing that holds 'em in.

No It's never been done on my car. I live in Finland and don't believe GM will cover it here.... will they? In this recall is it just the lock that is replaced? If so, what's wrong with it exactly? Seems to work fine on mine. What I really need to change is the upper belt-retractor.
