changing interior color..
Hi I'm wanting to change my interior from the black/gray to a red, I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of the different interior colors? I'm not real sure on what stays black and what gets changed, other than the carpet and seats.
Also does anyone know where to get the carpet material that is on the back cargo area plastics, I've looked in year one and a couple of other catalogs with no luck.
Ive always liked black cars with bright red interiors.

The original bright red interior components can be kind of hard to find, at least in this part of the country...I'd check with one of the used parts vendors like Hawks.Hawks can also help you with seat covers in whatever color you want. Most components can also be painted or dyed to match...just make sure you get the proper materials to do it (see a paint dealer...they all have different systems). As far as extra carpet material, any vendor for Auto Custom Carpet can get it for you. I used to work for Year One/Next Generation, and while the newer catalogs don't reflect it you can order any carpet they sell by the yard. Usually takes a couple weeks to deleiver, since its special order.

Too bad you're not closer ... I just pulled a red interior out and put in black.

I am also currently changing my interior. I am going from red to black. I can tell you the best place I have found is eBay. I have finished the cargo area and now I am moving towards the front. The headliner and carpet I will get from someplace else like http://www.stockinteriors.com/. But as far as the interior plastic goes eBay is great. Besides that way maybe you can bid on my stuff....

The carpet on the rear cargo area is relatively rare. I have seen it in a few Berlinettas in the bone yards. If you wanted to go red with carpet it will be rather difficult. I believe the carpet has been heat treated or pressed to mold into the shape of the rear cargo panels. You would have to get it off another 3rd gen or get it from GM. I have seen the carpeted red rear cargo panels on older 3rd gens, but they were more of a burgandy/deep red. I don't believe they had a real bright red interior option when they were putting carpet on the cargo panels. The only real bright red was on the 91-92 camaros. Someone elase may know if the 91&92 cars had a carpet option on the rear cargo area. I was trying to get red seatbelts and had to go with the 91-92 belts.
Your other option is to do what I did and do the inserts in Hampton vinyl. It looks better then the carpet in my opinion and you can do it yourself and get the material pretty easily.
here is the link tomy interior site showing some pics of what I did.
As far as what stays black...the dash pad. The dash was in black or grey. The underdash panel was in black. The plastic panels at your knees on the dash were grey or black.
87 up styles. The guage cluster was in dark grey. The center console and radio pod was in dark grey. 87 and older I believe...had all black...
Door panels vary. Depends on the style. The flat style had the door trim around the handle in black. The contoured style , like mine had a grey panel around the door handle. All had the black top sills. The carpet on the back of the seats matches the interior carpet. As would any carpet on the plastic interior cargo panels.
The rest of the interior plastic, seats, headliner, and carpet was all color keyed together
