insulating the chassis

I've been taking the interior paneling off to get both sides of the panels clean (I AM VERY THOROUGH), as well as looking for anything that could be improved. When I removed the paneling there were some panels which didn't have insulation behind them and the rest had that water retaining\potential rats nest insulation behind them. What recommendations do you have when it comes to insulation?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Get rid of all the old jute padding (rat nest material). Prep all the metal areas, put down some por-15, then sound deadener, then new jute padding. I'm in the middle of this right now...

Well first of you have to take out pretty much the entire interior to get the carpet out.

Grind off any rust. Por-15 says you can paint over rust as long as you get off the loose stuff, but I'm being extra sure and getting it off completely. Scuff up the metal a bit once the rust is gone. Then remove all the oil/grease with MarineClean (comes with the Por-15 kit) and then prep the surface with MetalReady (also comes in the kit). Now you put on the Por-15 paint with a paint brush. One coat should be enough, but if you want you can apply more than one. Be sure to do this outside, the stuff stinks.

Wait until the it dries (and the smell goes away), then layer down some sound deadener. I used Raammat, but there's quite a few others out there. I suggest putting down 2 layers on the floor pan.

And then put down jute padding. I'm not sure where to get the stuff, mine came when I bought my carpet. For an extra layer of insulation, get CarMotorsports carpet if you're replacing your carpet. It has a rubber backing like factory carpet (ACC doesn't).

I'm also layering Por-15 on the underside of the floor pan as well, topped off with some rubber coating. All this along with my new Spohn SFC's I just installed last night should make for a very nice ride. And yes, it is a long process.

main place to put sound deadner is over the back tire wells, thats where most sound comes from.

http://www.por15.com

You could get it done at a shop, if you want. Not sure how much it would cost though. My car is just up on ramps and jackstands. Gives plenty of room for working under the car.
