This is a really bad pic, but I did this with string neon glued to the door sill on my first Camaro. I really liked the way it came out:

I used to have 2 of the thin blue neons mounted in the headliner. They were wired into the maplight circuit. It was kinda cool at first, but they didn't shine worth a crap and I couldn't see inside.

i've always loved neon tubes under the dash.

i hooked mine up to the battery, and installed a switch on one of the lower dash panels.

it's not just for extra lighting.. i leave it on all the time at night. too dark in these cars otherwise.

I have blue neons under my seats, and they look pretty cool tho I rarely turn them on anymore.. Ill try to get some pics tonight if I remember. In my old car I had purple ones spliced into the overhead light so they would come on when you open the doors... it looked really cool I just wasn't real keen on using them in my new car so I just wired a seperate switch

I had some purple neons under my car for years. Looked awsome. Most burnt out. so I was going to put the good ones under my new 4thgen dash But I sat on the damn things when I got into the car to remove my old dash

I'll snap some pics tomorrow. I've got them under the seats and in the vents.

To hardwire them in, you'll probbably have to take apart the cigarette lighter plug (unless the transformer box is inline somewhere else).

Take all the transformers from all your neons and put them in a box of some kind (radio shack sells plastic project boxs, or make your own)

if they have a switch built in, make sure they're on.

From each transformer:

The wire that leads to the nose of the plug is the positive (+) (someone correct me if i'm wrong) Wire that into a switch, or splice into the interior lighting circuit (wire will go live when headlights are on, voltage will change as dimmer is turned. this MAY NOT WORK if dash lights are dimmed. )

USE AN INLINE FUSE!!! if you don't and anything shorts out, your wires will mellt, your car will fill with smoke, and you could possibly catch on fire. <----- experience is the best teacher

the wire that leads to the side of the plug is the negative (-) connect all the negatives together, and ground to a suitable location.

test your wiring, if it works, close up your box, and stow it in the dash ( i have mine in the space behind the fuse box)

I found the best way to mount the under seat neons was to sew them to the bottom edge of the seat. I had originally attached them to the floor just underneath, but people kept breaking them when getting in and out of the car.

Just noticed you want to replact the floor lighting. Just splice your wires into the original floor light wires. You might as well leave your transformers separate.

Mine sometimes need 10-15 seconds, or a little tap to light up(esp when its cold out).

If i was using them to light up the car when getting in and out, or looking for stuff, that would drive me insane. I do have the cheapest neons available though, so maybe you won't have a problem.
