T-tops: plexi conversion to glass...
Just wondering if anyone has converted their plastic roofs on the '91-92s to an older glass roof.
I have some '87s around here I'd like to put on my '91. I took them apart the other day,. they are definetly different, the plungers are bigger, and I wanted to save my old locks.
Looks like it could be a big job, it's all siliconed togeter...

My friend did it to his '91 camaro, all he did was take all the mounting stuff, like where the pins go in and put them on his 91, we had to adjust them a few times to get them good and tight, but he also has no squeaks now either.

I have the same question. I have a set of earlier glass t-tops and want to put them on my 1992. How can you change the hook mechanism to the pin style without Removing the adhesive?

Yes, there is adhesive holding the body of the latching mechanism to the glass/lexan. The body is made of plastic and is different for the hook style and the pin style. The hook style body has a different "hole" than the pin at the ends. I wanted to switch "innards" but i don't know how it will work. I don't want to ruin each set.

Axle/Gears: ?
instead of trying to remove the latching system from the T-tops themselves, change the catches on the A and B pillars of the car, get the catches from the car u got the tops from if possible, or from a junkyard car that has the same latching type.

I thought about that however, my car has locks and the glass tops do not.

Thanks for the ideas. I'm trying to find the striker for the hook mechanism now. If you have any other ideas let me know.
