gauge lights....

Hey guys i got a question.

My speedometer tachometer and the rest of the gauges on the instrument cluster all work, but they refuse to light up at night, with the lights turned on. The shift light is pretty much the only thing on the panel that lights up.

so, forgive me for my ignorance, but do our intrument panels run on bulbs? I bought the car like this, but there were three bulbs in the console loose, all the same type as the dome light one..

could anything else be wrong?

Yeah, there's a bunch of 194's in the gauge cluster. I wonder if they're all burnt out, or if there's a wiring problem, 'cause there's like at least a dozen if I remember right, and it'd be weird for every single one to be out. Right?

it would be kinda odd for all of them to be out but something in the electrical (between the fuse and the bulbs i would guess) might have taken all of them out or something, so yeah, there is bulbs...

Most likely a bad light switch.

think its a crappy light switch eh?

well today i was playin around with the cig lighter to see if it works, so i pulled it out, and out goes my dome light.

the one thing that lights up properly is the airconditioner backlighting.

hmm.. what to do, what to do?

you have a lot more patience that i... i would have taken the whole entire electrical system apart by now and gone through about 10 boxes of fuses and 2 batteries... just start tracing the wiring and see what you come up with...
