If you want to run standard 4th gen rims, you need 2" spacers. Skulte sells them for $150/pair last time I looked at that stuff

I haven't heard of adapters for the rears. I am buying mine for the fronts and I already bought rear end from 97 camaro, so it's already wider than what we have in third gens. I am not sure what people do if they want to keep their 3rd gen rear.

For me, I had drums, so it was a no brainer if I should just swap it.

I have a pair of 2.25in spacers for sale if anyone is interested.

I bought a full set of 4 from someone online but only need 2 since i have a 4th gen rear end.

Looking to sell the extra two.

A 2.25 inch spacer on the front puts the 4th gen rims in a perfect position with the fender. I like it better than just the 2.00 inch one.

nightrider, are we talking spacers or adapters?

adapter is something that completely replaces the hub (and then you have to go with normal disk brakes as opposed to hub/disk as one unit on third gens). Spacer is something you put on top of the hub just so the wheel sits further out.

The thing about spacers is that they put extra stress on the bolts (you probably will need longer bolts too) and if you want to race, that's not a good thing to have. I think some racing organizations don't even allow spacers. That's why I am not sure how an adapter for the rear would fit.

I am not sure about complete price of rear swap. Unit itself cost me $225. Most of the stuff I am talking about here, I've been researching for the last 6 months, but haven't actually done any of it yet. Just restating what I've read in the past. (so if anything here is inacurate, someone, please correct me)

yes it does put an added amount of stress on it, but you don't need longer bolts..becasue its a spacer with bolts in it..then it has holes for lugs to screw onto your existing studs, then on the spacer there is another set of studs that you mount the rim to...i just need front spacers, becasue i'll prolly get a 4th gen rear, but i'm going to bring a pic of the spacer to my manufactoring teacher and maybe i can save some money and get some stock and make one on the lathe and all the other machinery in there...what are these things made out of???

its not just a a spacer...its 2.25 inches wide and would cover the entire stud lol. Its also not an adaptor...because it doesn't adapt one thing to other either.

It bolts on as if you were putting on a rim, and it has its own set of studs that you then bolt the rim to. You don't have to change anything in regards to brakes.

I'd go $90 shipped to your door.

I can't tell you that it would work with 18s but I do believe so. Lots of people mount the vette rims on their cars with these.

They are made out of billet aluminum...so unless you have access to a real CNC machine, you can't make one. I generally want to make everything myself, but i certainly wouldn't trust a spacer made on a lathe in shop class with my life and my ride.

Yeah they should fit just fine then iif you aren't going any wider.

there are a few people on here running the 2.25 inch on the front...and a few with 2.0s wishing they had 2.25s.

sure man.

breezewon@adelphia.net

aol is nousablenames

at worst, if you think they would look a bit better with a smaller adaptor, you could get someone to mill one down for ya pretty easily.

hey nightrider

well, like I said, what do I know. You are right, but I guess it is an adapter. It adapts 4th gen rim to be put into 3rd gen, right?

I just double checked and your picture is the same one they have on skulte website.

What tires do you have? got any pictures of your car? (preferably the wheels).

I am in the same boat as klumb. Looking at ROH Spyder 17x9's with 274/40r17's and eibach sportline springs (1.6f/1.3r drop). From what I've heard there should be rubbing, but still a little scared.

I'm not sure as I haven't gotten the 4th gen rims on my car yet.

I'll just be running stock 16X8s. I think its just width that matters vs height provided the overall height of the tire is unaffected.

i haven't looked into taller/wider rims because i won't be running them

classifieds.

Just waited until something showed up.

I was really looking to get just a pair but most sellers don't want to seperate and it was a pretty good deal. I couldn't pass them up.
