notchback
ok i bought a fiberglass notchback off ebay i bought it because it was the closest looking to the factory one i have ever seen and i really like the factory one but the only factory one i saw for sale the guy wouldn't let it go for less than 1200 i got this one for 350 and it is close enough to my taste but i am having problems getting it to fit not because ot the notchback itself more just fitting the hatch(lining it up) then bolting it to fit i cant line it up then bolt i line it up while it is down then when i lift it up it moves out of place i am having a really hard time with this any sugestions?
also this problem i belive is from the notch or maybe i just can get it lined up enough the latch hook wont sit near where it has to be to get latched i will probly have to modify it alot any hints?
oh i almost for got to add i also am having a problem with struts my stock ones have that rectangular opening at the end and the not only has just a bolt coming out the end to put the strut on will i have to get new struts cause getting these to fit is harder than lining it up
thanks

I KNOW your from Michigan, but can you at least break it up into sentances???
Really you need to explain more. From talking to Hawk at hawksthirdgenparts.com he has a fiberglass aftermarket notchback, which was similar to the stock one, and he was unhappy with the way it fit too... Call him he might have an idea, BUt keep in mind he is running a business and may not be willing to help you with something you did not buy there.

i am having a hard time getting the old struts to fit that, and this question goes for puting on all hatches. i run into the problem where when i lift up the hatch to titen down the bolt on the hings to hold it in place, it always moves from where it was lined up.

Ok, I understand your delemma.
What your saying is when you put on the hatch struts, it is pushing the hatch back, and therefore out of alignment?
If this is the case, then you may have to put something in the holes so the hatch wont get pushed back. I am planning on doing this to my standrd glass hatch. The hatch struts ar so strong they push it harder than what the bolts can hold.
The left circle would be what is happening because the struts push back on the hatch, and the Right circle is what I am thinking about doing to mine... not decided on what to use yet, but I am thinking about some sort of Hard Rubber of some sort.

i did this with my hatch, which i'm sure weighs a ton more than that one...you just need two people and get the bolts tight enough that they barely move...then lower it down, move it into position, pick it back up and tighten them the rest of the way.
