Painting a Racing Stripe Correctly?????
Painting a Racing Stripe Correctly?????
I am painting a racing strip along the length of my car from the chin spoiler to the rear bumper. It will be about 32" wide with a 1" body color strip in the middle.
This is my model car: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/403007/2
How do I center it and keep it straight from end to end? I realize a measuring tape and possible a chalk line may work but I am not sure.
Help,
Jim

I thought this was discussed in the previous post...
Fine line blue, to layout the stripes.
If it were mine, I would measure the center line of each panel in quesion, lay a fine line all the way down the center, stand back and eye it up, AND I MEAN EYEBALL IT!!! There's nothing worse than having everything put down, painted, and then find out it's an inch off from the hood to the roof!!!
Then from that point, measure all your stripes out from the center.
Hint: (Sometimes it will involve re-installing your bumper covers and spoilers etc... and then removing them again...)
Use a grease pencil, to
lightly mark the edges of your stripe..in moderation... light dashes on the edge of the panel only, then stretch from line to line.
Remember to remove grease lines before clear!!!
