looking for ram air pics????????

I have an 89 firebird formula, and I'm thinking of putting a ram air hood on it. I was wandering if any of you have pics of a firebird with this hood on it. If the car is black, that would be even better. Thanks for any info. DOC

nice car

U got a front view pic of your car. I like the look of the twin openings. My only concern is I live in washington and it rains like a mother here.

At least give the kid a picture of your car, if that is the hood he wants!

I have some pics on disk for you...got to set up a link with the only 3 attachables allowed.

I have SunCoasts Ram Air hood on my car...

Also have pics of the Ram Air I Style and Ram Air II...

SweetRide45: I posted those pics on my site, was going to link to them... Thats a sweet looking car! Hence me saving the pics!

doc76239: thats the Ram Air I Style hood. American Sports car Design sells them. Also Hawks is a vender.

Here are some pics of a black Ram Air II style...tons of people are selling it, including the above mentioned...

redraif: Thanks for the compliments! I looked on your site, but couldn't find 'em...lol I'm going to be starting on a few mods here and there, and will have new pics in the spring/etc...I hope to get in some shows next year...just never had time, etc.

Thanks again...

And, oh yeah, Nolanr: Why do you hate the hood so much? Yes, it's fiberglass...Yes it's wavy...Yes it needs a lot of work to get nice...but, it's a very bad @$$ look when it's all done...Kills the cowls, IMHO

At some angles the hood looks hot as hell , and from others it doesnt look that good, Its gonna be a tough decision when i have to get the car painted as to which hood i have on the car , the stock ta hood or the ram air hood .

Heres a pic of it from the front .

If you decide to get a new hood, I might have to take the power bulge hood off your hands!

So, you're suggesting he keep his stock hood?

I'd say stick with the RA1 hood. The gorilla nostrilled RA2 only looks good at certain angles.

What part of washington?

Thanks

Wow those are some nice cars. Now you have given me another problem, I wasn't aware of a ram air 1 and 2. I think i'm going to look into the ram air II hood because I have a firebird. The ram air I looks good on camaros, but I think the ram air II looks much better on the firebirds. As for selling my factory hood, no, It has no dents in it and the paint is real good. Its a WS6 formula power everything, 9bolt. As far as calling people a kid, hell i'm 27. IANSANE I live in marysville, about 10 mile north of everett. f355bird that is one sick looking car, were did you get the wheels? Thanks again for the pic. DOC

If they made the ram air scoops fit the length of the hood I think the RAII could be very nice. I also think they are a bit too tall for all cars. Wish some varience was out there. I always wanted to get 2 ruined RAII hoods and cut off the scoop on one and graft it on the other hood and lengthen the scoop so it would go down and lay over onto the front bumper cover. More like how the 4th gen hood are moled in with the frt bumper cover!

That's what I hate most about the hood you have on your car. Seems so out of place. The front bumper cover on later 4thgens was designed to go with the RA hood. It has the holes trimmed out of it. Ours do not. The nostrils just don't fit well when they are that far down. I'd hate to see the RA2 with the nostrils down there.

I've never really liked th RAII on third gens at all. It looks like a bad boob job, with the two scoops just sittin there on top of the hood and no real blending or countouring. Its just bulky and doesn't flow well with our cars. On a fourth gen its another story though, because the fourth gens already look a little built and and curvy and not as streamline as ours. The RAI looks a whole lot better on our cars. I think so anyways.

That is why I want to make a hood that will go down on the bumper cover. I also planned to make it look more like the 4th gen cars, so it would flow into the bumper. Ideally I wanted to redesign the frt bumper cover to flow with the hood. See by having the scoops lower, you can have the funtional design of mine. And by allowing the design to hang over the bumper cover, you can allow the hood to flow into the lines. Not start abruptly like mine...

The nostrils on my hood had to be that far forward to make it actually a funtional ram air hood. I personally like the way it looks since it looks more like the 82-90 noses. They have the square boxy step up where the headlights and turnsignals are. This just follows that same look. Where as the 91-92s are sleeker up front and the RAII & RAI follow that theme. But to each his own. That is why there are so many hood choices!

Here are the 2 Ram Air I hoods...an ASCD Hood next to the SunCoast

I say get what every style hood YOU like the best. Made up your own mind based on other pics you see, your car, and how you want it.

I myself like the RA 2 hoods on firebirds (any third or 4th gen), but hate them on camaros.

My dad just ordered the RA 2 hood for his 327 powered 82 bird. He likes that style hood best. His words was... "cowl hoods are over played, too square, and everybody has one on just about every kind of car" "the ram air II hood looks mean, gives enough room for my carb set up, and makes the car stand out more"

Myself I have a 1988 camaro. Right now stock steel hood with a 14" round hole cut in it, and a vette 427 stinger style scoop (think big block hood) rivited on... I like the stinger the best on the camaros.

After I get done with my suspension, and get the money to order a glass hood it will be the big block hood

I'd definately like to see that done. Maybe with some sort of little mini vent things like the 4thgens have to blend it better. Just....not on that car. Too much going on as it is.
