Loose steering column issues
First off, I have FOUND the tech article, AND multiple other posts.
Here's my question: What exactly do is meant by "loose"? ...or in other words, is that article meant to fix the problem that I have, or some other problem. Several people mention that their steering wheel would be visibly loose. Mine seems to have slack, but it's not visibly loose.
When I'm cruising straight, with the wheel centered, applying NO pressure to the left or right, I can feel a slight vibration, and have about 1 degree of play in the wheel. Is that what tightening those 4 reverse torx bolts will fix?
I'd hate to do all that and not fix the problem. Everyone that I describe the problem to recommends having the sterring box rebuilt, and that makes sense, but to me it FEELS like the slack is in the column, not the steering box.

nope the loose in the tech article is for loose tilt wheel not column. if your tilt is loose the column will move in all directions wheel and all. not a handeling issue. i would say your box needs tighten or rebuild
